Chapter 15: Kicked the Iron Plate_1

Wen Sheng had never imagined that she would meet the man from a one-night fling in such a circumstance again.

Standing in front of the conference table, her mind went blank in an instant.

Today, four people from Linyun Technology had arrived, including their co-founder Leo Fu, a legal staff member, and two AI architects.

The man was dressed in a black casual suit, with a black shirt underneath, two buttons undone, casually leisurely yet with a hint of solemn handsomeness, a far cry from the sporty attire of that night.

Had she not seen it with her own eyes, Wen Sheng would have found it difficult to connect the two images.

Wen Sheng and Meng Wei were representing Changjing and Linyun personnel; they shook hands and exchanged pleasantries, expressing their welcome.

He extended his hand expressionlessly, lightly touched Wen Sheng's hand, and then quickly withdrew it, as if they were complete strangers.

The icy and subtle touch of his fingertips abruptly reminded Wen Sheng of that night.

In the depth of night, that cold current swept across every inch of her skin, leading her into another fantastic, enchantingly immersive world.

A slight ripple stirred in Wen Sheng's heart, but she quickly suppressed it.

Zhu Qingjia often said that Wen Sheng lacked sense, always keeping calm and clear-headed, which occasionally made her seem cold and detached, popularly known as indifference.

Wen Sheng, however, considered this self-control.

Just then, Meng Wei reached out his hand, greeting with a smile brimming with warmth, "Leo, it's a pleasure to meet you."

But Fu Yanlin simply took his seat without intending to reach out his hand, just nodding and sitting down across from Wen Sheng.

The atmosphere turned somewhat awkward.

However, that was no problem for Meng Wei, the sociable star of Changjing, who had not reached her position as the head of the technology sector merely because she was lacking in ability or simply through male-female relationships, as Shen Guannan had put it—she had her strengths.

For instance, now, despite the awkward atmosphere, she was able to quickly spin up a friendly and appropriate smile, initiating the meeting.

Out of the corner of her eye, Wen Sheng saw him looking down at his phone, completely focused.

A weight lifted off Wen Sheng's heart.

As long as he pretended not to know her, it suited her just fine.

Such a ludicrous relationship should, after all, dissipate into oblivion after their fleeting encounter.

Being a hot unicorn company in the current tech market, countless institutions were eager to invest in Linyun Technology; Wen Sheng had thought they would take a perfunctory approach at the meeting, but once it started, the other party was extremely accommodating. Fu Yanlin and the two architects clearly divided their tasks, elaborating in detail on the AI products for intelligent cars that Linyun was about to develop, and the funding requirements, using PowerPoint.

Fu Yanlin spoke about Linyun Technology's future product development for intelligent vehicles, full of energy throughout, covering intelligent cabins, driving systems, and autonomous driving connections. His speech was sharp and fluent, embracing the passion and majestic ideals for smart technology transforming modern life, enhanced by 3D scenario simulation experiments, leaving the audience profoundly impressed.

The entire presentation was a feast for the eyes and ears.

Wen Sheng listened with great interest.

In her university days, she had initially wanted to choose computer science, but her father felt her personality was already quite introverted, and studying computers might make her even more reclusive, so he had her study finance, saying the finance career would involve more people interaction and a broader circle. Wen Sheng was resilient, but unwilling to trouble her father, Wen Tingshu, she enrolled in the finance program at Yan University. Later, she chose the law department at Yan University for her postgraduate studies, focusing on corporate law and securities law, and after graduation, worked in corporate mergers and acquisitions at Hongquan Firm.

Over the years, as times changed, she had long forgotten her initial passion, only occasionally following some tech companies focusing on artificial intelligence, as a way to reminisce about her past love.

After listening, Wen Sheng finally understood why Linyun Technology had become a Unicorn Company in the tech industry. Their original concepts and grand visions were filled with passion, and their product designs were perfectly tailored to modern technological life—indeed, they were incredibly powerful and highly appealing.

She genuinely felt that the projects of Linyun Technology were one hundred percent perfect, captivating her heart.

Wen Sheng's gaze involuntarily settled on Fu Yanlin.

She couldn't help but wonder, how could such an outstanding person...how could he have had such an encounter with her in Qingzhou? It was absolutely magical.

Fu Yanlin noticed her gaze and met it calmly, his deep eyes undisturbed yet accelerating Wen Sheng's heartbeat involuntarily.

Wen Sheng immediately withdrew her gaze and looked down at the documents before her.

During the nearly three-hour meeting, Meng Wei took control of the whole situation, speaking fluently. Wen Sheng had some questions she wanted to raise, but Meng Wei suppressed her, indicating several times that Wen Sheng should serve tea and water.

Wen Sheng had no choice but to comply, silently serving tea and taking care of miscellaneous tasks diligently.

As the meeting neared its end, Meng Wei clapped his hands in approval, "Linyun truly deserves to be the Unicorn Company that is the focus of the tech race. Your new product development on intelligent cars is exhilarating! After listening, I just want to own a car equipped with the Linyun intelligent system right away! I believe that this series of product developments will definitely bring a great revolution to the automotive industry."

After Meng Wei finished speaking, Fu Yanlin let out a cold laugh, full of disdain.

It was quite loud.

Clearly, it was meant to show Meng Wei disrespect.

He glanced at Meng Wei, his tone somewhat impatient, "We spent three hours carefully preparing this presentation; did you think I came here to perform, just to listen to your gloriously pretentious flattery? Is this the level of professional ability of Changjing's technology team? You should reserve such talk of a 'great revolution' to the Ford brothers, have them 'smiling from ear to ear' in their graves."

Even though Meng Wei was capable of handling complex situations, having been rebuked openly, his face could not hide his discomfiture. The other three from Linyun, on the other hand, remained calm. They must have been used to it.

Wen Sheng had witnessed his ability to confront others back in Qingzhou, so she was not surprised. In fact, she felt a bit amused.

Meng Wei had really hit a wall this time.

Fu Yanlin rested one hand on the table, gently tapping it, his stern and profound gaze fixed on Wen Sheng, "And you, the mute who can only serve tea and water?"

Wen Sheng's brows furrowed.

Why was he directing his anger at her now?

Then she heard him scoff again, "Linyun has high standards for our partners. If this is the level of Changjing, I don't know what capabilities you possess to compete for this round of funding qualifications? Is it by the flattery you lap up, or this barely palatable tea?"

That tea was personally brewed by Wen Sheng.

Fu Yanlin was purposely belittling her.

The atmosphere was quite awkward.

Suddenly, feeling rebellious, Wen Sheng spoke with a soft yet clear and cool voice, "President Fu, while intelligent driving is exciting and desirable, the limitations of AI are well known. So, how does the intelligent driving system of Linyun Technology avoid this drawback and enhance safety assurances?"

Although AI technology was rapidly advancing, machines were still machines, lacking human intuition. Once a machine malfunctioned, it lacked human adaptability. This was a concern for many.

"Linyun Technology employs high-precision, low-cost assisted driving products in intelligent driving, utilizing wide-angle, 8 million ultra-HD monocular perception cameras. These cameras support recognition of a wide variety of traffic signs and road features, providing stable detection of vehicles up to 600 meters away and pedestrians up to 300 meters away. Additionally, they have high extensibility, suitable for adapting to a variety of mid-to-high end and popular consumer vehicle models, as well as all types of commercial vehicles."

Over the next few minutes, Fu Yanlin professionally and patiently explained from a technical perspective the solutions to the drawbacks of intelligent driving and product design.

Finally, his stern eyes locked on Wen Sheng, he said uncompromisingly, "There is no disgrace in asking questions, at least it is better than unprincipled flattering."
