The training ground buzzed with anticipation as the students gathered to receive instructions from Master Chua-Huanq and Mrs. Phianq. Standing before them, Master Chua-Huanq's voice resonated with authority.
"Tomorrow, I will assess your sprinting abilities. Prepare yourselves diligently. Mediocrity will not suffice," he declared, his gaze sweeping over the assembled beginners.
With those words, the students dispersed to their respective homes, each filled with a mixture of nerves and determination. Shayne and Zaara walked together until they reached their parting point.
"See you tomorrow. Make sure you're well-prepared," Zaara urged, her eyes reflecting a hint of concern.
"Thanks, see you then. And you, too, make sure to prepare," Shayne replied earnestly, gratitude evident in his tone.
Their exchange lingered in Shayne's mind as he made his way home. Upon arrival, he was greeted with the unexpected sight of his grandfather, Mei-zart, who worked tirelessly on one of Hwarthings' busiest farms.
Reunited with his grandfather after what felt like an eternity, Shayne's heart swelled with joy. After a brief celebration, he retreated to his room to change before heading to the city park for his training regimen.
The following morning, Shayne arose with determination, eager to avoid any possibility of tardiness. Creak! Creak! His black leather sandals echoed against the pavement as he hurried to class, arriving early for once. Zaara joined him shortly after, and they engaged in a discussion about their preparations.
However, their conversation was abruptly interrupted when Scot, the notorious troublemaker, targeted Shayne with a well-aimed blow to the back.
"Bam!" The impact reverberated through Shayne's body, igniting a surge of anger within him. Before he could react, Zaara intervened, restraining him from retaliating against Scot's provocation.
Unfazed by Zaara's intervention, Scot seized the opportunity to ridicule Shayne, his words dripping with disdain.
"Look at that, the girl's even defending him. Pathetic," Scot taunted, his words casting Shayne as the subject of ridicule within the classroom's walls.
