The soft blanket draped over my shoulders dragged along the ground behind me. It had become a pattern now. Almost every night I would wake in a cold sweat, clutch my blanket around me, and walk down the hall. Past my best friend's door, past her brothers and the other angels, past every option that I knew would ultimately be safe.

But they would never feel as safe as he did though. Just his presence alone would erase the phantom pain from the chainsaw that had haunted my dreams tonight. I could still feel the ache it left at each of my joints that had been removed in the dream.

I pushed open the door to the chamber he'd been kept in, pulling the blanket through the door before closing it carefully behind me. The room was silent as I walked confidently through the room and across the line I'd been told not to cross. I walked until I was inches in front of the chair he'd been tied to and collapsed to the floor, the sobs I had been holding in finally fighting free as I hid in the blanket.

"That bad?" Lucifer's voice was soft as it wound its way through the thick fabric and to my ears. "Would you like to hear another story? I have plenty."

I couldn't bring myself ot answer through the sobs. So I continued to cry and pulled the blanket closer to myself. But even now, the aches and pains were starting to ebb.

"Let's see then…I could tell you what really happened to Amelia Earhart." That stopped my thoughts. Even thinking about how he could know was enough to distract my thoughts. I pulled the blanket away from my face, just enough to see Lucifer lost in thought. "Or, I can tell you who Jack the Ripper was." He laughed, a rich light sound. "Wasn't me, thought I was a big fan." I sat up a bit, listening to him fully now, "I can tell you if the Loch Ness monster is real or not. Spoiler, it is. Gabe made it as a joke."

"Really?" My voice was small, raw from the crying. I wiped the rest of the tears from my face. I could feel my hands again.

"There she is," Lucifer said softly, a gentle smile on his face. "I was afraid you'd be under there all night without me."

I rolled my eyes but smiled. "Wanna join me?"

The devil's smile widened, "Now what kind of question is that, Sunbeam?"

I got to my feet carefully and walked around his chair. Like clockwork, I untied his hands, and he brought them together in front of himself and stretched. This was becoming more and more of a guilty habit. But before I could contemplate it too much, Lucifer had snatched me up, the blanket falling from my shoulders to the floor.

I wrapped my legs around his waist as he pressed his lips to mine, a hungry, devouring kiss. He was so addicting. A simple touch and the intoxication was instant. Whatever he wanted to do with me, to me, to us, that's what we'd do. There wasn't a single thing in this world that would make me stop him.

His hands dragged my nightshirt over my head and he tossed it aside, kissing me again before I'd had a chance to breathe. The welcome sensation of cold metal touching my hot skin came as he pressed me against the wall. Lucifer held me tight against it, my hands pinned by his over my head as his lips and teeth roamed the parts of my body he could reach, his hands touching the parts his mouth couldn't.

"You'll forget whatever dream you had tonight long before I'm done with you." He whispered, already breathless as he pulled at the shorts I had worn to bed. "And then you'll beg for me."

If it was begging he wanted, he'd have to stop long enough for my brain to process what was going on.
