This is it. I'm dead.

"Are you going to tell me why you called me here?" Li Jun asked. He already knew quite well what this was about, but he wanted to get under his skin a little as revenge for taking his father's weapons and martial arts manuals after he had died. Not to mention Li Cui, who had always believed that his mother still had valuables hidden away somewhere and tried everything she could to snatch them from her.

"Ha, husband, look at how brave he has become. He thinks that he will actually make it out of here unharmed." Li Cui raised her hand and revealed a long leather whip hidden within her dress.

"If you accept your punishment and hand over the deeds to your house, then maybe I can forgive you for slapping me." She said as she stood up from her golden throne and smiled.

'They think I'm going to give them my house?' He thought as he tried to hold in his laughter. Although she said she would forgive him for slapping her, there was no mention of Li Chen's condition.

'I hit him hard enough that I think his face will be permanently disfigured. Does she think I can't see through her intentions? Well, let's see how this plays out.'

"Ok." He said simply.

His response surprised both of them, as Li Hong also raised his eyebrows. Li Cui almost didn't think she had heard him correctly.

"Smart boy," Li Cui laughed to herself as she considered how well this was going. It seemed that Li Jun knew he couldn't act up in front of Li Hong and would do whatever she told him to.

"Come here and kneel before the patriarch, and everything regarding this situation will be forgotten," she said with a sadistic grin.

"Yes, Madam Li." He smiled as he approached the two of them and kneeled down at the bottom of another staircase leading up to their golden thrones.

Li Hong eyed him like a hawk as Li Jun approached and bowed his head. He knew what his wife had planned, but he didn't expect his nephew to behave, especially after how rude he had been just moments before. However, he didn't think highly enough of him to expect him to scheme against them.

"Good boy." Li Cui smiled and raised her arm, still holding the whip. "Now, this is your punishment for what you did to my poor little Chen!"

She swung the whip out towards Li Jun as hard as she could. She had a lot of practice with it and was confident in her ability to strike him.

As Li Hong faintly grinned at his wife's actions, he saw a spike in spiritual energy surrounding Li Jun, who looked up with a smile of his own.

"Stop!" Li Hong demanded as he reached out towards the whip his wife had lashed at Li Jun, but it was too late.

Li Jun suddenly grabbed the whip before it could strike him. He then pulled it with all his strength.

Li Cui, who was previously standing at the top of the staircase, now flew through the air as she was dragged along by the whip in her hand. Her eyes wide as she saw the red carpet quickly approaching her.

Li Jun raised his arm as if he was going to strike her when she was within range.

Li Hong hesitated as he watched on, but it was too late for him to react. He was still sitting down as his wife fell towards Li Jun's palm, which was quickly gathering spiritual energy.

"You!" He growled as he pushed out his arm.

Li Jun skidded backward as an invisible force pushed him. He looked shocked as the invisible power came from his uncle's hand. He thought only people at the core refining stage could use magic like that.

But his worried expression was quickly replaced with a smile as Li Cui slammed into the ground face first.

"Aghhhh!" She let out a howl as she slid across the carpet.

"Li Wei! I will kill you!" Li Hong screamed as he shot up from his chair and rushed toward his nephew, not even realizing that he had called out his younger brother's name instead.

Li Jun smiled as he reached down into his universe bag and held out his arm. The golden token with the Shen family emblem stopped Li Hong in his tracks as he stared at Li Jun.

Although Li Hong was surprised at what Li Jun was holding, the only reason he stopped his attack was that he thought Li Jun had reached for a weapon.

Li Hong let out a laugh as he looked at Li Jun standing confidently behind the Shen family token.

"So you're the student of the old city lord. Do you expect me to be scared?" Li Hong glared at his nephew with indifference.

"You would dare attack a student of Shen Guo?" Li Jun smiled.

Li Hong laughed once again, and Li Jun began to feel hesitant about his plan. It didn't seem that his uncle cared about the token at all.

"I thought since you came in here so confidently that you would actually have a plan. But your intentions were to hide behind someone else? Let me ask you something." Li Hong grinned.

"Where is Shen Guo now? Is he on his way here? Does he even know you're here? Although he's strong, he isn't omnipotent. No one will ever know what happened to you, and I'm certain I can dispose of your body before anyone reports you as missing. Are you still confident in hiding behind Shen Guo?"

Li Jun felt the blood drain from his body, and a chill ran down his spine. He hadn't thought it through at all. He had gained a false sense of security and felt that he was invincible.

He stared at his uncle, whose eyes flashed with darkness. He was in shock. Is this how he would die? To his own flesh and blood?

'If I get another chance at life, I won't be so foolish. I won't become arrogant.' He made a promise to himself, hoping that, by chance, someone would save him.

Li Hong rushed towards him once again, but this time, there was nothing Li Jun could do. He was too close, and his uncle was too fast. He could only watch as a dagger slid out from Li Hong's sleeve and glided swiftly through the air towards his throat.

Every hair on his body stood on edge as the world around him seemed to move in slow motion. 'This is it. I'm dead.' These were his last thoughts before closing his eyes and accepting his fate.
