CHAPTER TWO

Anna stirred on the hospital bed, her eyes fluttered open to the sterile scent of antiseptic and the soft hum of medical equipment. Confusion clouded her mind as she tried to remember what happened, but all her memories were hazy, she struggled to reach for the call bell to call the nurse, some moments later the nurse came in ''you are awake the nurse said'' Anna nodded and asked ''what happened to me'' the nurse told her how she fainted ion the road side and man happened to see her and rushed her to the hospital, ''where's the man''? Anna asked, he left earlier this morning the nurse answered het. ''I'm thirsty'' Anna told the nurse and the nurse gave her water to drink. ''you could eat and get some more rest and you can be discharged later in the day the nurse told her. Before leaving the room, Anna wondered who brought her to the hospital but she had no one to ask, so she looked around the room for her purse and phone but they were nowhere to be found. She ate her food and slept some more, when she woke, up she went to the nurse's station to ask for her phone and purse , when she got it she went to pay her hospital bills so she could leave the hospital, on getting there she was told that the man who brought her paid all the bills already. She really wanted to thank the man but no one knew him. when she got outside the hospital premises she checked her phone for any missed calls but there was none from her family members or even her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend. She thought of where she could go to but there was none, she couldn't go to her best friend Ella's place because she went back to her parents place for the holiday, she had nowhere else to go to, she hailed a cab and went back to her father's house where no one loved her and she lived like a nobody.

...….

Williams sat beside the hospital bed, watching the girl sleeping peaceful on the bed, when his phone suddenly rang, jolting him out of his thoughts, glancing at the callers ID he saw that it was mike his best friend and CO CEO of his company. With a sigh he answered the call, ''you are needed at the office immediately there's an emergency'' mike said, ''what happened?'' Williams said, ''there's a problem with the Venturecorp project and the crucial deadline is about to be missed. If something goes wrong with this project, it is going to mess up our relationship with the client, and the whole project would be tanked. You are needed to come to the office right away. Mike explained to him.

Okay I'll be there as soon as I can, William said. He glanced at the girl on the bed not wanting to leave before she wakes up, but he was needed at the company. When leaving he stopped by the billing desk to settle the hospital bills. Then with a final glance at the girl's hospital room, he turned and left the hospital straight to the company.

As William stepped into the grand lobby of the company, ignoring the hustling and bustle around him, he made his way to the private elevator reserved for him and the directors. With a soft ding the elevator doors slid open as he stepped inside, as the elevator took him to his office, as the elevator doors opened he strode into his office where mike and some directors were waiting for him already. Mike stepped forwards to greet him and said ''we've got a serious problem with the venturecorp project'' William greeted the rest of the team with a nod and sat down at the end of the table.

As the meeting commenced, William listened as his team outlined the issues plunging the venturecorp project, him and his team brainstormed ideas, offering insights, as they found a way to solve the problem with the project.

As the hours passed, they finally found a solution to the project before the deadline, when the team left the room, ''hey, what's going on?'' mike asked William.

''why did you ask'' William answered

''you were absentminded during the meeting, are you okay?''

''It's ...… complicated,'' Williams begin ''I came across a girl on my way home yesterday night on the road side, unconscious''

''Is she okay?'' mike asked

''yes she's in good hands I rushed her to the hospital immediately I found her at the road side. I just…couldn't leave her alone, I don't even know her name''

Understanding downed in mike's eyes as he nodded in comprehension. ''you did the right thing Will, placing a reassuring hand on his friend's shoulder. But we've got to focus on this venturecorp mess. We'll figure it out like we always do.

With a grateful smile William nodded, grateful for mike's unwavering support, together they turned their attention back to the task at hand.
