Chapter 5: Everything Begins with a Scholar

The sky was faintly bright, and after studying for half the night and attempting the meditation method to absorb elements and transform them into magic power, Qin Muye handled the matter of life and death with remarkable composure.

Fortunately, his strong learning ability allowed him to overcome obstacles, and he successfully extracted the first strand of magic power.

[Congratulations! You have obtained 1 point of magic power in a special way. Job transition is in progress.]

[You have no job transition certificate. Do you want to transition in a special way? Yes/No]

Qin Muye looked at the prompts appearing in The Lord's Era. It seemed strange, but he definitely chose "Yes." He also learned more information, such as the ability to obtain professions. Initially, he thought the profession was a Lord, but it turned out there was more?

[Detecting that you triggered a special job transition in a magical way. All common-level magical professions are now available for you to choose.]

[Please choose a magical profession yourself.]

- Mage

 - Lord's Talent: Magical Affinity (Reduces all magic consumption by 10%).

 - Lord's Skills: Primary Magic (Increases attack magic damage by 5%), Primary Mysticism (Recovers 10% magic points daily).

 - Magic: Random 1st-level magic x3

- Elementalist

 - Lord's Talent: Elemental Manipulation (Increases elemental magic effects by 10%).

 - Lord's Skills: Choose one of the following - Primary Fire/Earth/Water/Air Understanding (Increases the power of magic in that element by 1, reduces magic point consumption by 1), Primary Magic (Increases attack magic damage by 5%).

 - Magic: Random elemental magic x2

At the top of the list was the Mage, and Qin Muye's eyes widened, but he quickly calmed down and continued scrolling through the options.

In addition to Mage and Elementalist, there were also magical professions such as Alchemist, Undead Mage, and others.

However, Qin Muye knew one thing; this was definitely not his achievement but the merit of his learning ability. Since he found his unique talent, he should develop it further rather than change his mind. Otherwise, even if he became a Mage, what difference would it make in The Lord's Era? He had no advantage, so to survive, he had to create his own advantage.

After scrolling through the list, he quickly locked onto a profession.

[Scholar]

 - Lord's Talent: Academic Research (Increases knowledge by 1 for each level).

 - Lord's Skills: Primary Enlightenment (Extra 5% experience gain when acquiring experience), Primary Academic (Allows mutual learning of magic, influenced by Wisdom Magic, allows mutual learning of 1-2 level magic).

This was a purely support-type profession, seemingly designed for leveling up and increasing magic points. However, at this moment, Qin Muye was no longer limited to effects; he had transcended the framework of The Lord's Era.

This profession seemed to complement his learning ability perfectly. For another person, it might not be the first choice, but for Qin Muye, it was the most suitable.

Primary Enlightenment's 5% extra experience was somewhat useless, and only Primary Academic had some utility, allowing mutual learning of magic. However, it was influenced by Wisdom Magic, and the learner had to possess the corresponding level of Wisdom Magic.

Qin Muye decisively chose the Scholar profession.

[You have taken on the Scholar profession.]

[Please note: Your profession slots are full.]

Qin Muye looked at the final note. His profession slots were full? Did this mean there were other ways to expand the profession slots?

However, now was not the time to contemplate such matters; that would be for the future.

[Lord/Scholar LV1 (0/1000)]

[Territory: Mage Tower (Ruins)]

[Health Points: 100%]

[Magic Points: 11/11]

[Attack: 0]

[Defense: 0]

[Strength: 0]

[Knowledge: 1]

[Lord's Talents: Learning Ability, Academic Research]

[Lord's Skills: Primary Enlightenment, Primary Academic, Temporary Scouting (temporary)]

[Magic: None]

Although the Scholar profession didn't grant any magic, Qin Muye gained an additional point in Knowledge.

Obviously, Academic Research was effective, adding +1 to knowledge for each level. At his current level (LV1), he naturally received an extra point of knowledge. More importantly, his magic points were 11, whereas, under normal circumstances, it should have been 10.

"I've gained this extra point of magic by meditating. This way, besides relying on The Lord's Era, I can also cultivate and increase my magical power." Qin Muye could clearly feel the growth of magic power in his body.

"Fortunately, I didn't choose Mage or Elementalist. Besides Lord's Talent, I can fully learn and master magic and Lord's Skills on my own. In this way, there's not much difference compared to having multiple professions."

"More importantly, it seems that these professions share a common level and aren't calculated separately for Lord and Scholar."

"In other words, the profession is more like a stepping stone to acquiring skills, and the Lord is the true essence?"

Qin Muye could feel that his logical thinking had become much faster. Originally, he was somewhat confused, but now he saw things more clearly.

He speculated that this might also be one of the abilities brought about by Academic Research, rather than simply gaining +1 knowledge per level.

"Master, do you plan to go out and search for resources today?" A sprite cautiously climbed to the third floor of the Mage Tower and asked.

Unknowingly, it was already bright outside.

"Can you go on your own?" Qin Muye, thinking of the intelligence of these sprites, couldn't help but ask.

"No problem, Master. It's just that we don't have the ability like you to collect resources directly into the inventory. We can only carry them back." The sprite replied.

Qin Muye was a Lord, so he could directly collect resources in the wilderness into his inventory, unlike the sprites who lacked this ability.

Hearing this, Qin Muye pondered for a moment. "Alright, split into two teams of three sprites each for exploration. Each team will carry a day's worth of food. Return before dark—no, return before evening. If it gets too hot at noon, remember to take a break."

"Also, safety first on the road. If you encounter any danger, abandon the resources and run."

With these instructions, Qin Muye issued a reminder. He had more important things to do and didn't want to waste time collecting resources.

"Yes, great Master, you are truly the most merciful mage we've ever seen. We will dedicate our lives to you." The sprite, upon hearing Qin Muye's words, expressed gratitude on its face.

"Alright, go. Be careful on the way." After another reminder, Qin Muye watched as the six sprites split into two teams and left the territory, heading in opposite directions.

"It seems that life for the sprites in the Mage Tower is not as good as I imagined."

Qin Muye sighed, and then he took out the book, "Primary Elemental Meditation Method." With the new Lord's Talent and Lord's Skills, he planned to review the old while learning the new.

Of course, the real focus was on the book "Sprite Experiment Manual."
