I hated how accurately the weather was reflecting my mood lately. It felt like as soon as I learned that Professor Bennett was getting married, the sky darkened with no signs of stopping. It was supposed to snow any day now.


I normally loved Christmastime at Edenbrook. The school tended to go all out in terms of decorating for the season. They had so much money that the campus looked like a holiday tourist attraction, with lights everywhere and Christmas trees planted on every corner. They even hired carolers to go around performing in the different plazas and event spaces throughout the school. It was a jolly time of year.


I wanted to enjoy the season, especially since we’d be on Christmas break in just a couple of weeks, but I just felt like a shell of myself. I barely managed to drag myself to my classes, with the exception of Professor Bennett’s. I had skipped his class completely the other day.
