Night of Shame

Tristan Ford turned his gaze to the old lady and noticed her ambiguous smile. He smiled and said, "Grandma, I will never forget your help today."

"Go to hell!" The old lady glared at him angrily and then proudly raised her eyebrows. "I'm not doing this for you. It's to meet my good granddaughter-in-law as soon as possible."

Tristan lowered his eyes, concealing the seriousness in his eyes. "Grandma, let's make a deal. She will be your future granddaughter-in-law, and no matter what happens in the future, you can't go back on your word."

"The thing I trust most in my life is my own judgment." The old lady said, "As for you, you better think of a way to win her over quickly. I can tell that girl doesn't have any romantic intentions towards you."

That was precisely what troubled Tristan the most.

With his own conditions, countless women threw themselves at him like carp crossing a river.

But Cynthia always maintained an indifferent attitude towards him, without any inordinate thoughts. It made him inexplicably self-doubt.

Tristan looked at the old lady. "Grandma, can you give me some advice?"

"If you want to pursue her, you have to show one hundred percent sincerity." The old lady said with a serious tone, "For example, lowering your status, being more proactive, considerate, and most importantly, you have to be committed from beginning to end. If you dare to bully her, I won't spare you."

Tristan couldn't help but laugh. "We haven't even gotten engaged yet, and your heart is already set?"

"I like that girl more and more." The old lady thought of Cynthia's obedient appearance, and the corners of her mouth couldn't help but curl up. She caught a glimpse of Tristan's figure moving and quickly asked, "Where are you going?"

Tristan's lips curved into a meaningful smile. "Of course, I'll be more proactive."

When Cynthia was walking towards the ward, she unexpectedly encountered Yvonne Louise, Joe's sister, on the way. It seemed like Yvonne had been waiting for her, or else she wouldn't have blocked Cynthia on the path back to the ward.

At this moment, Yvonne looked at her with malicious intent, her mouth curved into a mocking smile. "Cynthia Shannon, I overestimated you. I thought you had seen the reality and left on your own accord. I didn't expect you to linger around like a ghost. Do you really think that if you show up in front of my brother, pretend to be sick and pitiful, he will change his mind? You'd better give up as soon as possible! My brother has no interest in a scumbag like you!"

"Say that again!" A cold chill suddenly appeared on Cynthia's face, and a fierce light flickered in her eyes.

Yvonne, who was used to seeing Cynthia's humble attitude, couldn't help but shrink back. "Did, did I say something wrong? After you broke up with my brother, you couldn't wait to go out and fool around. If you're not a scumbag, then what are you?"

Seeing Cynthia remain silent, she stubbornly continued, "Don't think I don't know why you mysteriously disappeared back then. My brother told me everything!"

Upon hearing this, the blood drained from Cynthia's face, leaving only a pale complexion. Tremors ran through her eyes.

Her hand, which had been hanging by her side, clenched into a tight fist. Without any feeling of pain, the nails digging into her palm. Her frail body trembled uncontrollably, as if silently enduring a catastrophe.

That was the most shameful night of her life, and it was also a knot in her heart that could never be untied.

This matter was known only to her and Joe Louise. He had solemnly promised that no one else in the world would ever find out...

But in the blink of an eye, he had revealed her secret to Yvonne. When did promises become such cheap things in this world?

Cynthia felt like a blunt knife had sliced open her chest, causing dizziness and pain to surge throughout her body. Breathing became difficult.

Yvonne looked at her pale face and, feeling confident that she had caught Cynthia's weakness, couldn't help but gain some courage. "Cynthia, let me tell you the truth. If it weren't for you persistently pestering my brother, coinciding with his breakup with Naomi, he wouldn't have looked at you! You should take a good look at yourself..."
