Breaking the Rules

Emerging from the bath, Cynthia Shannon noticed her vibrating phone on the table and walked over to answer it. It was Jacob Quinn calling.

“Oh my, you finally decided to answer the phone,” he exclaimed.

Though he didn't know what had happened on Jacob's end, he had indeed breathed a sigh of relief upon receiving Cynthia's call.

“What's the matter?” Cynthia casually asked as she dried her hair.

“I went to your uncle's apartment and found you weren't home. I called you, but you didn't answer. I thought something had happened to you,” Jacob paused for a moment, then continued, “By the way, I put the things I bought for you in the fridge.”

Cynthia replied, “Help me check the black sedan with the license plate ending in 256.”

Jacob fell silent on the other end of the line, but the rapid sound of keyboard typing could faintly be heard.

After a moment, he finally spoke up, “It's a counterfeit car. However, according to the vehicle information, it should have been scrapped.”
