Chapter 7 - Oddities at Home

Not wanting to get involved in his mother's plans, Nicholas intended to quickly run out of the dining room.

"Okay... I've finished eating my dinner, so I'll excuse myself?"

I tried to walk as fast as possible to avoid questions from mother. I have a bad feeling, if I continue to linger in the dining room, sooner or later my mother will ask something stupid that makes it very difficult for me to answer.

But before Nicholas managed to get as far away from his mother as expected, his mother stopped him to ask something that sounded important.

"Nicholas! Do you have a minute, there's something mommy want to talk to you about."

When I heard my mom's words, it immediately made me half-dead and didn't know what to do to avoid the words my mom's would say.

"Sorry mom! I'm really tired today. so can we talk about this tomorrow?"

"Wait Nicholas, mom hasn't finished talking yet?" stood up from his chair to walk over to Nicholas.

"Nicholas wait, mom wants to talk to you?" Pulling Nicholas clothes, preventing Nicholas from walking any further.

"What is it ma'am? Nicholas is really sleepy, Nicholas wants to sleep?"

Nicholas mother finally explained to Nicholas clearly the meaning of the words he wanted to say and what he wanted to convey to Nicholas.

Mama Nicholas told that Lala's father asked Nicholas to take Lala home after dinner was over.

Actually, Lala's father considered letting Lala stay at Nicholas's house, but because Lala insisted on going home today, Lala's father was understanding, but on the condition that Nicholas had to take her home. Lala's father worries that something will happen to Lala's safety on the way home because it is already night.

"Come on, Nicholas! Mommy begging you, can you take Lala home, right?"

Nicholas thought to himself, actually he objected, but on the other hand he didn't want to disappoint his mother and make things more complicated. Nicholas agreed, hoping his mother would calm down.

"Okay, I'm willing to take Lala home?"

When Mama Nicholas heard this, she felt happy and blinked one eye at Lala. but for some reason Lala looked at her with a shy facial expression. This made Nicholas, who previously knew that Lala was afraid of him, feel confused.

Nicholas invited Lala to get ready immediately if she intended to go home now. He didn't have the intention to wait too long because early tomorrow morning he also had to go to the office.

"Come on! Hurry up Lala, I don't like having to wait too long?"

Lala immediately tidied up the table where she was eating which looked messy and immediately followed Nicholas who had already gone to the car.

At this time, Nicholas was in the trunk to get his car out. First he opened the trunk door so the car could get out.

After that, Nicholas took out the car keys which were in his pocket. Dan immediately opened the car door, but he couldn't open the car door.

The car itself was very difficult to open, so Nicholas had to struggle to open it, which in the end succeeded. even though the car had just been serviced a week ago.

He checked his car's carburetor to make sure everything was safe and stable. So that it runs well and is not fussy when running.

Not long after, Nicholas finished checking the carburetor area of his car and was about to get back into the car to start it. I heard the sound of someone's footsteps walking towards the car and after turning towards the source of the sound it turned out to be Lala who was currently right behind the glass of my car's entrance.

"Huh... Who do I think you are?" Feeling half confused.

Lala looked like she wanted to open the door but she was a little hesitant to talk to me.

Nicholas then opened the door for Lala to enter, because he had made sure all the machines were in normal condition. Nicholas immediately hit the gas and went from his house to go to Lala's house.

While glancing towards and to the left.

What did I just do, I should have just kept quiet and not opened the car door for him. I was constantly grumbling in my mind, until I didn't realize I had made a strange expression on my face.

Seeing Nicholas make a quite strange face made Lala at least laugh a little.

My gaze turned to Lala, I wondered what was wrong with her this time.

"Why are you laughing? Is there something strange about me?"

"No-no, nothing."

I didn't want to talk too much small talk and just tried to focus on driving the car.

It took up to 1 hour to get to Lala's house. when I arrived in front of Lala's house, I saw that Lala's house lights were still on, I got out of the car at the same time Lala also came out and was right behind me.

We both walked to the front of the yard where some of the lights were still on, I thought it seemed that Lala's father deliberately didn't turn off the lights to indicate that he was not asleep at this time and was still awake waiting for our arrival.

being right in front of the entrance, I didn't immediately knock on the door of the house. but I stopped standing in front of the door of Lala's house and tried to look into the house from behind the window which was not completely closed with curtains.

From behind the window I saw several bottles of beer, not just one but five bottles and several shoes that looked like there were 6 pairs too.

"Lala, does your father really like drinking beer?"

"Hah... No! Dad doesn't like it at all, in fact Dad really hates beer."

I started to think that if Lala's words were true, then Lala's father wasn't the only one at home and of course that made me wonder even more.

I slowly once again tried to peek out from behind the same window as before, but I still didn't see anyone inside.

In my mind, I try to think positive thinking. By behaving as usual in front of Lala.

This time I tried knocking on the door many times, but Lala's father didn't open the door at all. Even though I knocked very hard on the door.

Feeling that there was something unusual about the condition of Lala's house, I slowly opened the door handle. While monitoring the surrounding area with great vigilance.

In a whispered voice I tried to warn Lala. "Hey... Lala, stay behind me?"

Lala, who heard my words, only responded by nodding, the two of us slowly opened the door of the house and walked inside.
