Beast Attack

The other groups were facing their own troubles, especially the groups without a higher rank accompanying them. One of the group had managed to get to their destination with only half of its members, the rest probably in the stomach of the blood thirsty beast.

The other group were utterly destroyed with a few managing to escape, their mission abandoned. No one thought their first expedition would come to this.

They were never informed about having to fight these terrifying beast and weren't ready to face them. The two groups, with the two higher ranks following them, got to their destination, losing only a few.

They were currently battling the wave of zombies and few beasts among their rank. Everyone was having a hard time, only the goal to survive, pushing them forward.

Currently, Alex, with his sword, stretched forward, kicked off the ground, swinging his sword in a calculated manner. He made sure not to run too fast in order for them to keep up.

Bursting through the door, they arrived at the entrance of the building, which was already crowded by zombies. The situation had just gotten chaotic with their chance of survival extremely low.

From the side of a building, a large fireball dropped at the centre of the large horde, exploding and destroying several at ones.

The students charged forward, hurling out offensive spells, the warriors mainly taking the lead.

Abby, the leader, cast several fireball floating before her, sending them to the most crowded areas.

"They are here!" He exclaimed, raising his sword forward. Looking behind him, his eyes scanned through finally landing on the one person he was searching for.

"Zoe!" He said, heading towards her and hugging her tightly.

"Alex, so it is true... you... you came back!" She cried out.

"Listen, you guys should move away from here. We will handle everything quickly," he said. "Find a safe place and hide until the battle is over." He addressed them loudly, before joining the fray.

With the way opened before them, they carried the kids and made their way towards one of the building.

"Everything will be fine now," he thought, swinging his sword rapidly. The main problem were the beasts. Their attacks were strong enough to cause severe injuries or death depending on the situation.

Alex body returned back to its normal colour, the spell coming to an end. He edged forward, joining the ranks of students, defending themselves from the frenzy attacks.

Different spells were being displayed across the sky, with the mages doing their best. Following the order of Abby, they fought in a group of five, and their eyes focused on the task.

Abby, still on her horse, provided support by hurling more fireballs over the area, careful not to hurt the students. With the noise going on around the field, more and more continued to join the ranks, pushing them back.

"We won't be able to stop them all," she thought. "The beast poses another threat. It won't be long before the high tier beast and zombies join the fight."

"Everyone! Slowly move backwards and onto your horses!" She yelled. The horses were well trained for this, and the students wasted no time in retreating.

Alex is horse already dead, moved backwards, standing at the side. "What do we do now?" He asked Abby, who looked at him with angry eyes.

"Don't go about leaving us behind," she said with a stern voice. What if something bad happened to you? Can't you see what's going on. Just one wrong move, one f*cking mistake, and you're gone! Get this into your head! This isn't a game!" She shouted loudly with stormy eyes.

Alex, unable to utter any word, just stood there waiting for orders. "It doesn't matter. At least I was able to help them!" All that matters is saving their lives!" He thought, clenching his fist tightly.

'Like this we are trapped here, with no way of going back to the border. Not without sacrificing the lives of the students."

"We move deeper into the outer region" she said and paused for a minute. "Then we fight them systematically, carefully taking them out and finding a safer path back to the border."

"That's suicide!" One exclaimed, his eyes filled with fear. "Going deeper will only result in more zombies and beast joining the fray."

"That's right, but it's for the best." Heading back to the border would only cause more harm. Looking at you guys you're already getting tired from the clash."

"I believe if we're lucky, we might be able to meet up with the other groups and think of a better plan."

"What about the rest? Are we going to leave them?" Alex finally spoke, asking a question.

"Of course, no! That's silly of you. They are the reason we embarked on this expedition, and returning with empty hands will only make our efforts in vain."

"We will be able to take them along, just to locate their position first." Abby said, urging her horse forward. "Alright, fall back," she said to those holding the zombies back.

"I think I know where they currently are," Alex said, walking forward.

"Alright then, lead the way." Abby replied with a smile.

"How do I do that? You guys are basically going to be ahead of me with your horses." He said, raising his hands up and then dropping it down.

"Well, that's what you get for being stubborn. Maybe next time you will think with your brain and not your feet." With that, she gave the command to move.

"C'mon, you said you know the place, right? What are you waiting for? Show us the way." Her voice echoed around the area.

"Damn!" Alex muttered, waking forward. Channelling Qi to his legs, he exploded off the ground. His sword held closely to his chest, and he passed through the rest moving forward.

"You guys should try and keep up," he said with a smirk. Channelling more Qi, he leapt up, climbing atop the heads of the zombies, making it easier for him to navigate through.

The group kept on with him, clashing with the zombies from their horse. Abby made sure to destroy all beast she sighted and occasionally would release a fireball clearing the way.

They finally arrived at the place, a large construction building with metals lying aimlessly across the area.

"Metals!" Alex exclaimed inwardly. This would help greatly," he thought, picking up some scraps and keeping it in his storage ring.

They walked forward, entering into the building, which was surprisingly quiet. Careful not to make any unwanted noise, they threaded silently across the area.

Abby waved her hands, rotating it slightly, "Alright, it's okay to talk now," she said.

"A silent spell!" Elena exclaimed in excitement.

"Indeed, you're right. With the silent spell active, we would be able to talk freely."

"Could it be what the other group had used also?"Alex thought. He remembered seeing a mage back then and was sure he was a high-ranking mage.

"The place his quite large. We are gonna have to split," she said. Looking over the students she had counted a total of ninety two students before her.

Sigh.

"Okay, we split into four equal groups," she said. "Don't forget to inform me if you get to see them first and we are to meet at this same place."

"Hold it! Alex you're coming with me," she commanded, seeing him about to follow the second group departing.

"Alright. Do whatever you want," he grumbled walking towards her side. They were the last to move, taking the east wing.
