Chapter 220 - Riveria: Were they... dazed?
The whistling wind swept over his head again, and Mahiro felt his entire body sway under the pressure.
With two quick jumps, as Goliath's massive palm was about to crush him, Mahiro leaped off Goliath's arm, narrowly avoiding the crushing blow.
Thud—!
A dull sound echoed as Goliath slapped the wound on its right hand with brutal force.
Seeing this, Mahiro's eyes twitched involuntarily.
This idiot...
Monsters should be intelligent beings...
Generally speaking, the higher the level of a monster, the greater its intelligence.
Take, for example, the Level 2 Minotaur in the anime.
After being trained by Ottar, it even learned to wield weapons proficiently.
As a Level 4 floor boss, Goliath should possess even greater intelligence than a Level 2 Minotaur.
But it didn't seem that way.
Perhaps the pain from hitting its wound drove Goliath into a frenzy, as it let out a roar that sounded almost like a wail.
Goliath quickly removed its left hand from the wound, and as it did so, blood splattered from the injury on its right hand.
At that moment, Mahiro could clearly see the damage his zanpakuto had inflicted.
"The wound is still a bit shallow," Mahiro muttered, sighing in frustration.
In truth, the wound wasn't shallow by normal standards.
The Zanpakutō had cut through flesh to a depth of at least ten centimeters.
Such a deep wound would have severed the limb of an ordinary monster.
However, given Goliath's colossal size, the injury Mahiro inflicted was little more than a scratch.
That's the advantage of being massive.
A slash that would be fatal to most creatures only left a moderate scar on Goliath's thick hide.
"What an adventure!"
Without relying on his other abilities, the monsters on the this floor posed no real threat to him.
But now, facing the floor boss, Mahiro felt a hint of genuine challenge.
It was precisely this difficulty that excited him.
"Hestia said reaching the seventeenth floor was already a record, but I think it's still not enough," he murmured.
With light, precise steps and masterful swordplay, Mahiro engaged Goliath once more.
"Killing you will be the moment my rise would start."

Inside the passage on the sixteenth floor, four figures sprinted at full speed.
"Come on, Riveria! The commotion ahead is getting louder!" Tiona called out, glancing back to urge the others.
Riveria, trailing at the rear, felt the urge to smack her forehead with her staff.
Tiona, Tione, and Ais were all combatant adventurers.
Ais, in particular, was a swift and agile swordsman.
When they pushed themselves, their speed was unmatched.
Riveria, on the other hand, was a mage.
Though she held the title of Nine Hell, the most powerful mage, and had some physical combat, she was still a mage at heart.
How could she possibly keep up with the speed of three fighters?
Even with her slender shape, she barely managed to stay within sight of the trio.
Riveria remained silent, pushing herself to keep pace.
Tiona was right—the closer they got, the more intense the disturbances from the seventeenth floor became.
From the sheer magnitude of the commotion, it was clear that Goliath, the floor boss, was growing increasingly enraged.
There was only one explanation for this: Goliath was battling an adventurer.
Based on their earlier assessment, Riveria believed that Goliath had been awakened by an adventurer who had accidentally triggered its sleep.
After all, it was the Loki Familia that had accepted the guild's mission, not some random adventurers.
Among adventurers, few could stand against a floor boss.
In fact, such individuals were exceedingly rare.
Under normal circumstances, if adventurers accidentally awakened a floor boss, their first instinct would be to flee.
But what if escape wasn't an option?
Though Goliath wasn't particularly fast, its sheer size made it a formidable obstacle to any fleeing adventurer.
The inevitable outcome would be a desperate battle.
Either die fighting or hold out long enough for rescue to arrive.
"I hope you can hold on," Riveria thought to herself.
The Loki Familia frequently ventured into the deeper floors, so they were intimately familiar with the dungeon's layout.
They didn't need to fumble around like Mahiro had; they simply followed the correct path from memory.
Within the sixteenth floor, there was a passage that led directly to the main chamber of the seventeenth floor.
The four of them were now racing through this passage.
"Why aren't you helping?" Riveria asked, puzzled, as they finally reached the end of the passage.
The exit opened into the main chamber of the seventeenth floor.
But what struck Riveria as odd was that Ais, Tiona, and Tione, who had arrived just before her, weren't rushing in to assist in the battle against Goliath.
Instead, they stood at the entrance, staring ahead in stunned silence.
Were they... dazed?
From Riveria's perspective, it certainly seemed that way.
"This guy is incredible!" Tiona exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement as she watched the battle unfold.
"Which familia does he belong to? To take on a floor boss alone..." Tione mused, her tone more analytical.
As the older sister, Tione was naturally more cautious.
While she was impressed by the adventurer's strength, she was even more curious about his identity.
After all, anyone capable of fighting Goliath had to be at least Level 4, if not Level 3.
Yet, Mahiro's face was completely unfamiliar.
They had never heard of such a powerful adventurer before.
