The Aftermath

"You mean you didn't feel anything at all?" Clark, with an unexpected expression of surprise visible on his face, directed his question towards me. In response, I chose to simply give him a nod, without uttering any words.

We came back just few minutes ago with Clark's father, Mr Sebastian. My father sat on a single chair while Mr Sebastian sat on the same couch as Clark.

"Who's that girl, Seb?", my father asked Mr Sebastian. "How come Alexander's body didn't react to her touch?"

"What if you're healed? Or, maybe, she was an angel in human form sent to heal you?" Clark blurted out.

"Oh please, shut up Clark", I said as I stood up to grab a drink from the wine cellar.

"Her name is Ivory Addams, she just started working with us few days ago and so far, she has been a nice and hardworking girl," Mr Sebastian said adjusting the collar of his shirt.

"Hmmm, come here Jake," my father signaled to his personal bodyguard who has been standing just close to the sitting room's door.

"Yes boss." Jake gave a small bow when he got to where my dad sat.

"I want you to find out everything you can about Ivory Addams. I need answers as soon as possible." With that he stood up while Jake left room.

"After knowing everything about her, what next?", I turned to face him.

"We'll go the easy way and if she refuses, then we'll go the hard way," he said grinning from ear to ear. "We just have to confirm if she's actually your cure or not, let's go Seb." With that he left the room, Mr Sebastian nodded at me before leaving the room.

"So what are you going to do now, Alex?" Clark asked.

I sighed softly and plunged down at the seat my dad previously sat on.

"I honestly don't know, Clark." I instinctively rubbed my jaw. "My father can do whatever he wants, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the possibility of what happened at the restaurant." Clark quickly gave me an amused look.

"Yeah, of course", he scoffed and I glared at him.

"Go home, Clark. I need to rest, it's been a long day today," I said and left the sitting room to my room.

IVORY

"You have to stop crying, Ivory. You won't loose your job." Ava said while wiping my tears.

Ever since I was forcefully pulled out of the exclusive VIP section, tears have been streaming down my face uncontrollably. I cannot help but wonder why my clumsiness had to cause that disastrous coffee spill on him. All I wanted was to create a positive impression, but sadly, all I managed was to make a terrible one. And now, as a consequence, my job is at stake; I am on the brink of losing it. Even if Mr. Sebastian, pleaded in my favor, the CEO would not even give a moment's consideration or bat an eye before firing me.

After being informed of the situation, Mr. Sebastian generously granted me the remainder of the day as leave from work. As I exited the restaurant, Tory's disapproving gaze pierced through me, filled with scorn and judgment. On the other hand, Anne's eyes conveyed a deep sense of sympathy and compassion, reflecting the sorrowful state I was in. Internally, a groan escaped me as I mentally battled the emotional turmoil, painstakingly wiping away the tears that streamed down my face.

I don't want to lose my job. I just got this job and if I get fired, I don't think I'll easily get another job.

"You don't understand, Ava. The men I encountered didn't seem nice. You needed to see the look on their faces when i spilled the coffee on him. They won't spare me." I groaned bitterly.

"You're probably just over thinking. Baby, come on, You'll just have to go to work tomorrow to find out if you were fired or not. And, besides, even if you get fired, my bakery is still open for you and my job offer still stands." She wiggled her eyebrows at me.

"Oh, Ava, you're unbelievable," I whined as she engulfed me in a warm embrace.

"Everything will be fine," she said patting my back. "Now let's get you something to eat."

"I'm not hungry." Ava turned to glare at me. "No, not like, I'm not hungry... I just don't have the appetite to eat anything."

"Fine then, you can starve. I'm going back to my bakery." She turned and stomped off. I smiled after she slammed the door. Ava can be so dramatic sometimes.

Unexpectedly, my phone abruptly disrupted the peaceful silence, jolting me into action. Eager to know the person reaching out to me, I hastily reached for the device, feeling an intense surge of anticipation coursing through me. Yet, as my eyes locked onto the displayed name on the screen, my heart plummeted deep into the pit of my stomach, overwhelmed by a mix of fear, and apprehension.
