I stared at my flushed face in the mirror. I touched my cheeks as they were still burning.
It's been five minutes since Alexander kissed me. He literally took my first kiss. I had quietly excused myself to use the restroom because I didn't want him to see how flushed and embarrassed I look.
I sighed deeply as I glanced at my reflection again, my cheeks were still red. He didn't have to kiss me, I mean, it wasn't necessary or was it?
He really shouldn't be taking me off guard like that, especially in public. I touched my lips as the memories of the kiss rushed in like a river of flowing waters. The way his lips grazed mine softly, nibbling and sucking at my lips. He was seeking entrance but I didn't open up, he let out a low annoyed huff before breaking the kiss.
I quickly shook my head to shake off the lucid memories. I bit at my lower lip nervously as I thought of facing him or anybody else that witnessed the kiss. I rubbed my sweaty palms on my dress before looking at the mirror again, when I saw my face had gone back to its normal colour, I headed out of the restroom.
I looked around, stylishly looking for Alexander as he wasn't anywhere in this hall neither were his parents or Clark. A few people had approached me with congratulatory messages which I replied with a smile or a 'thank you'.
From my peripheral view, I saw a lady approaching me, she should be around my age or a year older than me. She was beautiful, her steps elegant. She was dressed in a golden, strapless dress that stopped on her mid-thigh and a golden heels. Her long midnight hair was packed up in a high pony tail making her face more prominent. She was in fact drop dead gorgeous and her whole demeanor screamed wealth.
"Hi, I'm Nicole, Alexander's girlfriend," she said once she had gotten to where I stood and I was taken aback by her words.
"Excuse me?" I gave her a pointed and puzzled look that made the smirk on her face widen.
"You heard me right, darling. I said that I am Alexander's girlfriend and it seems you're engaged to someone that doesn't belong to you." Her smirk had dropped and she was now looking at me with a snarl.
What the hell?
Alexander has a girlfriend and he wants to contractually marry me? This whole thing doesn't make sense. If he wanted to get married, he could've just married his girlfriend.
'Well, you wouldn't have gotten any ten million dollars' my subconscious chimed in and I winced at the obvious truth.
I glanced at the said girlfriend - Nicole. I couldn't compete with her in anyway. She's beautiful, rich, elegant and exudes confidence while I'm the complete opposite. I think this was what he meant when he said I wasn't his type. Nicole was exactly his type but why didn't he propose marriage to her instead and why didn't he tell me about her?
I know that I shouldn't feel entitled but to me, despite it's going to be a contractual and temporary marriage, I still want my partner to be faithful to me. I'd have to ask him about it.
I could feel a swell of anger building up in my chest and I want to let it out on one person - Alexander.
I looked up at Nicole and gave her a smile. "He actually told me about you, dear. You actually look stunning contrary to what he described. You should really move on, darling. You're his girlfriend but I got the ring." I flashed her the ring as my smile widened. Her eyes narrowed in anger before she turned around and stomped off.
I let out an annoyed huff. This whole thing is really overwhelming and I am getting tired already. And where the hell is Alexander?!
Just as I was about to go grab a glass of water from the tray of a server who was five feets away I was blocked by Mr Sebastian.
"Oh hey, Ivory. Good evening, how are you?" He asked with a smile and I returned the smile as I felt this comfortable feeling seeping in.
"Good evening to you too Mr Seb. I'm fine and you?" I asked rhetorically.
"Wonderful dear. I'd like you to meet my wife." And that was when I noticed the slender woman standing beside him. She flashed me a soft smile which I awkwardly returned. She slowly touched my cheek as her hazel eyes sparkled with untold excitement.
She was very beautiful and had a blonde hair, just like mine. Out of impulse, I touched her hair. I smiled when I felt the rich silky strands on my fingers. I sharply withdrew my hands when I realized how rude I had just been. She smiled at me softly.
"It's fine darling, you can touch it however you like. I don't mind," she said as her eyes softened at me.
"That would be really rude, ma'am."
"Theresa. Just call me Theresa. I would like to ask you if we've met before?" She asked while looking intently at me.
"No, ma....Theresa. I don't think we've ever crossed paths," I answered letting out a small laugh. She slowly nodded still looking intently at me.
"You just remind me of someone. I mean, when I look at you, it feels as if I am looking at that person." Her eyes glossed a little and I thought she was going to cry. She blinked and looked at Mr Sebastian who smiled at her and rubbed her back. Maybe, I remind her of someone who was really dear to her.
"I'm sorry if...." I began but I was cut off.
"No...no darling. It's nothing, okay. Congratulations by the way. Alexander can be a handful at times but trust me, he's really sweet." I raised my eyebrows at her last words and she laughed and I joined her. Mr Sebastian just smiled. They are such two lovely people, they're so comfortable to be with.
"We'll leave you to do your thing. Have fun darling," she said and gave me a peck on the cheek. Mr Sebastian smiled and gave me a nod before he left with his wife.
I quickly started walking towards the bar to quench my thirst with a glass of water but I was yet again blocked by someone. I rolled my eyes annoyingly and glared at the person.
I was slightly taken aback by the figure in front of me. I was staring right back at an insanely handsome guy. This should be the first handsome guy I've met today aside Alexander and Clark.
His impeccably tailored black suit that fitted his muscular body. His black hair was gelled back and his pointed nose stood out. His electric blue eyes stared back at my hazel ones.
I have to admit that he had similar features with Alexander, that if you don't look closely you might think he was Alexander but my Alexander still looked more handsome than him.
My Alexander?
Where did that come from?
His lips stretched into a smile and he took my right hand and gave it a kiss which made me shudder. There was this unsettling feeling in me, screaming at me to be wary of this guy in front of me. There is also this hard-to-notice sinister look in his eyes and he also has this sophisticated and intimidating aura that Alexander and Mr Marco has, but his is quite more dangerous.
I slowly withdrew my hand from his hold when it seemed like he wouldn't let go.
"Hello beautiful, I'm so glad to be standing in front of an angelic beauty like you." I blinked once, then twice before forcing a smile to my lips. Something flashed in his eyes but it was gone in seconds.
"And...you are?" I asked impatiently, wanting nothing but to be away from his dark presence.
"Oh, pardon my manners, beautiful. I am Ezekiel but you can call me Kiel, honey." Just as he finished his sentence, my body was immediately collided with a hard wall. I realised it wasn't a wall when I felt the warmth of a body. I slightly strained my neck to the back to see Alexander.
His face was contorted in anger that I think was directed at the Kiel guy in front of me. He was fuming that I think if he was a cartoon character, smoke would be oozing out of his ears. His eyes was blazing fire as he glared at Ezekiel who didn't seem fazed by his intense looks.
"What's the matter, couz? Why are you so riled up?" Ezekiel asked with an amused tone.
"Fuck off, Ezekiel!!" Alexander groaned out, still fuming at Ezekiel. His grip on my waist tightening that a slight wince escaped my lips.
Why is he so angry at Ezekiel? What could be their beef that would make him react like this? And did I hear 'couz' as in cousin? They are cousins! No wonder the striking resemblance.
Alexander turned me around to look at him. His eyes roamed all over me before he pulled me closer and inhaled deeply on my neck. He stayed there for some seconds before pulling away. He gave Ezekiel one last glare and then dragged me away with him. I turned back to look at Ezekiel who had an amused smirk playing on his lips.
