Alexander's grip on my hand was so tight that I know it would leave a bruise if he held me any longer. I paused on my steps and forcefully took my hand away from his grip.
"What is wrong with you?" I shouted, annoyed at him. We were standing at a lonely pathway that led to the exit of the hotel premises. We had long left the dinner party hall.
"Stay away from Ezekiel, he is bad news. What were you even doing with him?!" His eyes were slit in anger as he glared down at me.
"I wasn't doing anything with him. I was just on my way to get water to drink and he came my way. I don't understand why you're so angered. I am not the one who has a girlfriend!" I bellowed staring intently at him which he returned with the same intensity.
Why is he acting up? If he has a problem with Ezekiel, then he should sort it out with him and not try to vent his frustrations on me.
He narrowed his eyes and menacingly closed the distance between us. He angled his face to the side before straightening it back up. He lifted his hand to touch my face but I reclined and glared at him.
"Don't be fierce now, Angel. It doesn't suit your gentle nature. Don't ruin your beauty for me." He touched my face before giving me a peck on my temple.
I felt a rush of calmness rush into me as I felt my insides relax. Why does he make me feel this way? I shouldn't be feeling this way with him.
"Stay away from me." I tried to get away from his hold but his hand on my waist tightened. "You didn't tell me you had a girlfriend."
He looked down at me confused.
"Girlfriend? I don't have any girlfriend." His face looked like he was saying the truth but I still didn't trust him, he could also be lying.
"You mean to tell me that you don't know any Nicole that came to me and claimed that I took something that doesn't belong to me? I know that this whole thing is actually fake but I am somebody that loves faithfulness and loyalty. So, if you want this to work between you and I then you have to cut off whatever relationships or flings you have with any female. When we are done and over then you can have as many girlfriends as you like." By the time I was done talking, he was looking at me like I had gone crazy.
"First of all, Nicole is not my girlfriend and secondly you don't call the shots here. I do." I narrowed my eyes then paused my lips into a thin line.
"Then, if that's the case, I think I also have to get myself a boyfriend or two or even three. How does that sound, husband?" His face immediately grew dark and he flanked me closer to him that there was no space between us.
"You aren't getting any boyfriend, if I as much as see any man close to you, I'll break him limb by limb. You are mine, Angel, do you understand?" I shuddered at his words but slowly nodded my head.
Why do I have a feeling that he meant what he just said?
"Let's go home," he said and dragged me out of the premises, to a car that was similar to the one that brought me here.
"Get in," he commanded as he opened the door for me.
We're leaving already? I didn't even get to say goodbye to his mother or Mr Sebastian and Theresa.
And the home he is talking about, is it mine or his?
"Whose house? Mine or yours?" I asked quizzically.
"Mine. Now get in." His tone was laced with impatience and I noticed his eyes twitch a little. He sure has enormous mood swings.
"I'm not going home with you. We are not married yet and until we are declared married, I am not stepping foot in your house, contractual or not." I raised my face confidently at him. His face changed from a glare to an amused look.
"Ivory, you're going home with me and that is final." With that, he gently tugged me into the car, got in and shut the door.
I shot to the extreme of the car, gumming myself awkwardly to the door of the car.
Alexander stared at me for a few seconds but ignored me as he brought out his phone and started scrolling on it.
When I had relaxed a little, I glanced out of the window, staring at the cars that passed ours and the trees that we drove by.
I shut my eyes close as I felt the tiredness slowly seeping in. I'm not used to this whole thing, meeting new people, having to be in the spotlight, being surrounded by wealthy and rich people and most of all, having to deal with Alexander's overbearing and arrogant self. I let out a tired sigh before allowing sleep of exhaustion to take me over.
I blinked when I felt a light tap on my cheek.
"Wake up, Angel. We're here." I opened my eyes to see that we were still inside Alexander's car and my head was rested on his shoulder.
What? When did I do that? I thought, not remembering going close to him and putting my head on his shoulder. Could it be __?
"I don't know what is going on in that little head of yours but you have to go have some rest". I looked up at him, captivated by his grey orbs, it took all my willpower before I could look away. My eyes slowly wandered to his nose and then to his mouth, it remained there for a couple of seconds before I looked away when he spoke.
"Don't tell me you want me to kiss you, Angel. Because, I sure as hell would do it if you give me that look again." There was an intense look on his face and emotions were swirling in his eyes.
"Pervert," I said, before opening the door and getting out of the car, Alexander followed suit. I looked around to see that we were in front of my apartment.
I thought he said we were going to his house! I let out a relieved sigh as I gave him a glare.
"I changed my mind but that doesn't mean you're not coming with me next time." I glared at him but I looked away when the small gate that led to the steps of my apartment opened and Ava jogged out and came towards me.
"Baby, I thought you weren't coming home this night," she said and hugged me.
"Baby?" Alexander voiced out and Ava quickly disengaged from the hug. I guess she hadn't noticed Alexander till now. I quickly shut my ears as she erupted a scream. She stood still while looking at Alexander with wide eyes.
"Tell me he's real, Ivory. Tell me I'm not dreaming, baby c'mon. If this is a dream then I don't want to wake up." She was still looking at Alexander like she'd seen a ghost.
"He's real, Ava and you're not dreaming," I said and that was when she melted before plunging herself at Alexander. I saw him stiffen before loosening up. Ava touched his face, his shoulders while continuously looking back and forth between Alexander and I. She looked like someone who just got her favorite candy.
"This is a dream come true!" She exclaimed and plunged herself at Alexander again. I laughed out at the look on Alexander's face.
"Okay, okay, Ava. That's enough, you're embarrassing him," I said and dragged her to my side. "Alexander, meet my bubbly best friend, Ava. Ava meet Alexander, my... you know who he is."
"Of course, nice to meet you. Don't mind my actions earlier, I was just excited to meet my best friend's fiance," she uttered and gave Alexander a wink. I quickly let out a fake cough and gave her a small glare.
"Chill baby, he ain't got nothing on you." Ava smiled and I playfully rolled my eyes. Alexander's phone rang and he excused himself to answer it.
"Why are you still awake by this time, Ava?" I asked wanting to change the subject.
"I was waiting for you. I called your line but it wasn't going through. You could've texted me, y'know." She gave me a sulking face and I smiled and touched her cheek.
"Oh baby, don't cry. I'll give you a full gist of everything. I know that's what you want." She smiled and nodded while pickling her fingers like a child. "Stop being childish, Ava." She laughed out and I smoothed her hair that slightly looked rough.
Alexander cleared his throat beside us. Is he done with his phone call already? He stared back and forth between Ava and I before narrowing his eyes and shaking his head a little.
Wait, does he think that we're lesbians? I laughed out in my head, considering how I Ava held onto each other, a clueless person would think we are lesbians.
"Get that thoughts off your head, it's not exactly what you're thinking." He gave me a smug smile before nodding his head.
"I'll have to get going now, you really should have your rest as tomorrow is going to be quite a big day for you," he said and I raised an eyebrow at his words. "Don't miss me too much, Angel."
"Yeah, you wish." He smirked before staring at me for a few seconds. He gave Ava a nod who waved an excited goodbye at him before he turned around and entered the car.
I and Ava continued staring at the car until it was out of sight. I looked at Ava who wiggled her eyebrows at me.
"Now, you're going to give me that full gist you promised." I groaned but Ava dragged me upstairs after locking our small gate.
My phone pinged with a message once we had gotten into the sitting room. I opened the message to read its contents.
'GET READY. WE ARE GETTING MARRIED TOMORROW!'
What?!!!
