Everyone in the train was looking at them. Each of their gazes felt like knives to Emery. It was as if with their gazes they were trying to dissect her to see what was inside. The very thought made her skin crawl. Emery hated attention. Especially if it was the unwanted kind. It was something that she hated more than being on a train.
While Emery felt disgusted to the point of almost having it manifest, being hyper aware of the gazes on her, a part of her mind still had its full attention on the boy I'm front.
The boy had completely recovered from The shock of having his hand be pierced though. The boy for a second swayed a bit before launching himself towards her once more. This time Emery was prepared for his attack and sidestepped him before he could grab hold of her again. With quick maneuver she went behind him and with the push of a button she tassed him at the back of his neck with the taser. The boy's body shooked in place before going limb and falling to the ground with a *thug* sound.
Seeing him fall, Emery causiously stayed a few steps back and used her leg to move the boy a bit to make sure that he was truly unconscious and not faking it. The boy did not sound a peep. After making sure that the boy was truly out of her way a.k.a unconscious, Emery raised her focus towards the rest again.
Everyone was still looking at her. For a second she even got the vision of being in a dark room and all of their eyes glowing bright red and never blinking. At this Emery clicked her tongue. ' This is making me nauseous. ' She did not want to stay in that place for another second.
She quickly grabbed her bag and walked towards the door that connected the two cars of the train. She made a straight beeline towards it and exited the car without a second thought. The moment she was out her back hit the closed door behind and sweat dripped down all over her body.
' That darn vision again. ' Thought Emery as different images from the past started to take over her mind. Scenes of burnt down villages and poorly constructed refugee camps. How everyone would look at them when they crossed though. Their feeling of helplessness as they were unable to help. Emery bit her lip and shook her head.
' Stop that! ' She yelled inside of her mind.
Just as she felt like she would be drowned with more visions all over again an iciness seemed to have taken hold of her as her back became straight and her head looking straight. While Emery was busy stopping a panic attack from arriving she forgot to take in account the situation that might be playing out on the other side of the door.
Emery couldn't help but be frozen in her place. The car she had just entered, the only words that she found fit to describe the place would be a war zone. Any other words that would fall short are used otherwise.
Some people were at each other's throats while the rest cowered nearby.
Blood had been split and broken objects were all around. ' What in the name of god is going on today!? ' thought Emery with confusion. Today's events made absolutely no sense to her. ' Why were everyone fighting? ' Questions ran through Emery's mind but there was none who was able to answer her.
Just as she was about to dive into a rabbit hole of thoughts to figure out the answer, cold sweat suddenly broke out from her back. Emery stood as still as a rod without moving a single muscle. 'Someone is observing me. ' the thought hit her like thunder.
With a blank face she turned around and walked back to open the door she had come out from. Entering the car she was quick to close the door again. The situation in this car was a lot more peaceful making Emery sigh with a sense of relief.
After she had left the situation seemed to have gone back to how it was at the start of the journey. No one no longer paid extensive attention to her and only gave her occasional glances. That was something that Emery could deal with.
Feeling a lot more at ease, Emery walked back to her seat with light steps. Going there she realized that the teenager was still lying unconsciously down there. 'Serves him right. ' The second that the thought crossed her mind the very second it vanished and an unsettling filling rose within her.
Without making a change of her blank expression she stood still near the foot of the body as she examined the back of the boy's head. There was a bloody cut on the back of the person's head and by the looks of it, it was most likely done by a sharp object.
Bending down she put her finger to his nose wanting to prove her guess wrong yet what she thought was what it was. ' Dead. '
Like a pin dropping in the middle of an empty room the word echoed inside her mind. ' Why? ' Her question had no answer.
It was very rare for Emery to be in shock this many times in a row. ' How are they still so composed? ' She couldn't help but question once again. In this situation there was one thing she was sure of. She absolutely could not show weakness.
Keeping her composure she stood up and sat down on her original seat like nothing happened and as if there wasn't a dead body right at her feet. Taking out her notebook while humming in a low tone she started to draw in a light manner. Emery did not know what was happening but one fact could not be questioned. If she showed the slightest expression of panic there was no getting out of her alive.
