Revered Magus Chapter 13 – Late for Lesson

S seems to stand for section and 45B seems to be my door number. On the way to the lodgings, there seems to be from section A to M so I guess from N to Z was on the other side, so Rio headed towards the opposite lodging area and finally found S. Rio entered the open gate to see apartment type buildings, Rio saw 45A and, finally 45B. Rio entered his room and saw a surprising sight.

Rio's expectations have been lowered since the Airship but the place seemed very nice. The size is big enough for me to exercise train and whatever. The Bathroom was nice and luxurious. In short, it looked like a very expensive Hotel you would use for a holiday, but it seems to be his specific room.

Rio sensed a slight increase in mana than usual constantly swirling his room, so he decided to cultivate and absorb as much as he could. Rio cultivated until his token started vibrating and flickering with lights. Rio paused his cultivating and looked at the token. Rio saw all three of the courses he applied for show up. It seems that he has been accepted for all of them.

It was around two in the afternoon, so Rio decided since there was nothing to do, let's go get his timetable and officially start his long and dreadful journey to the top.

Rio arrived at the booth and showed his token to a different person from the last, the person took his token, examined it, and gave it back to him with his timetables for the classes. The next class was Magic which was tomorrow morning.

In the meantime, Rio went to the library and went to go see the book that could further enhance his knowledge. The library was in the next building so he had to walk from the course selection area to the library which was a Pagoda that had a plaque with a giant golden handwriting with the word Knowledge at the entrance. He entered and saw a clerk at the booth.

Rio approached the clerk and asked if he could enter, he looked at him and said "hand me your token". "Rio Casmir, first time entering so you probably don't know the rules. Basically, be quiet and don't go to the second level, those are for mage initiates. The library closes in the evening so be sure to leave when it is closing time."

Rio nodded, took his token back, and headed into the library to see what gain he could achieve. Rio entered the main library and immediately started looking through books, however to the outside eyes he was going picking up bookings, flipping through them, and putting them down. They didn't take him seriously and ignored him. By the time it was an evening, Rio scanned about 25% of the library and it was only the first level.

By the time he got home and told the system to absorb all the stored knowledge, a headache as if his brain was about to burst occurred, the feeling lasted for about a minute before calming down. He felt like crap. However, after the feeling waved through his insight into the world and creatures increased.

It seems that there are Magus Academy in each Empire except the Light Empire which is substituted by the Church Institution, what they call Mages, they call saints. Furthermore, it seems there are sentient beings just like humans. Elves and Orcs existed also in this world; however, they went allowed in some places, Santos Empire held strong discrimination towards any creature that basically wasn't human.

Elves were more sensitive to mana and were naturally born with spirit roots unlike humans, where some are born with it and some aren't. Orcs, on the other hand, are not born with spiritual roots...ever. They're more like warriors that train their bodies and utilize something called Qi that used their blood and transfuses it into an aura that gives them explosive power and speed.

After settling and fully absorbing all the knowledge that he obtained, He was mentally exhausted and fell asleep.

'bang'

'bang'

'bang'

"Hey, Casmir open up!"

Rio opened his eyes at the commotion and sluggishly walked and opened his door to see a slightly bigger boy with red fiery hair and golden-like eyes. "Hey, the teacher told me to fetch you" Rio was puzzled when said that. "Teacher? Teacher! What's the time?" Rio asked him in a panicked tone.

"it's 9:05, you're the only one absent from the class, so he sent me to get you". Rio slammed the door and rushed to get ready. "Shit, on my first day I am already late, hope he doesn't kick me from the course because he thinks I'm unserious."

Rio opened the door after dressing up and told the guy to lead the way. It would be easier if he had a guide to show him rather than wander around looking for the classroom. They finally arrived at the class. "Well, well. If it is Mr. Casmir. You do realize you were late and had to trouble one of your fellow students to fetch you, if this sort of tardiness happens again, you are kicked from the class. Magic isn't something that you can learn while acting lazy". After his constant scolding in front of the class is signals Rio to sit in the front and sit.

He then proceeded with his class. "Welcome everyone to the Magic course, you can call me Professor Maple and I will be guiding you through this magic course. First, why is magic important? One important reason is if you want to accomplish anything great in this world, magic is a fundamental thing you must have. If you were unlucky and destined to have a bad or even worse no spirit root. One can only go so far in this world. Power rules over all, in the face of true power tricks and tactics, end up being child play".

"So, who knows what magic is? Anyone?" after Rio heard this, he raised his hand trying to earn some good points for his tardiness, it wouldn't be good to have a magic teacher obstructing you in the future. "Mr. Casmir, yes, you explain." Rio replied, "Magic is harnessing the world's mana to create supernatural phenomena".

"Correct Mr. Casmir, it seems even though you are not conscious of time, you have a bit of knowledge about magic. Most of you would probably realize when you go to your dorms that there is a slight increase in mana. We use massive spirit stones and implant them into the core of the dorms, so those who live closer to the core of the dorms receive a purer and more abundant amount of mana. Those who are at the core are the best prodigies or direct disciples of the academy's elders. By using a reward system like this it can motivate lazy people to work harder." She looked at Rio when he said the last part.

The Magic Lesson went on as Rio took in knowledge from the class and as 2 hours were up, the class ended. The next lesson is in about 10 minutes which was alchemy. Being proficient in alchemy although hard is a long-term investment, since the currency over here is spirit stones, you could say Rio was broke. Once he is proficient in alchemy, spirit stones would continuously be raked in.

"Hey Casmir, we have the same class later as well, don't we?" Rio looked back and saw the guy who came and got him. 'Why is this guy talking to me and asking a question like I knew his timetable?' Rio thought before he turned around and tried to walk away until he said "Ahhh, Casmir you don't have to be so cold, I'm just trying to have a conversation.
