My Money is Gone

I clearly understood George's suggestion to place me in the general office—it was essentially a nominal position. But I needed to delve deeper; I needed to understand what the current state of ElevateBuild really was.

"But... Sam is in the marketing department..."

"Ah! I can start from the bottom. He is now your right-hand man, and I won't take his authority away. I just want to test myself, to see if I still have the drive I used to have. I really miss those days," I said nonchalantly, my laugh devoid of any real humor. "The timing is quite flexible too. If you expect me to sit in an office all day, I might not even adapt well. It's been 4-5 years since I last worked. Let me just blend in for now."

My words seemed to relax George, and he walked over with a smile, "Alright, alright, whatever you want, you decide! As long as you're happy!"
