A Night with Joy

I felt Joy leave the room, and then I heard voices outside followed by the sound of a door closing. Someone walked back in.

"Don't you feel suffocated?" Joy's voice rang out again. I was indeed feeling stifled, unable to breathe under the covers. Reluctantly, I slowly lifted a corner of the blanket and saw him standing over me, his smile radiant and uniquely charming.

Was this the same reserved Joy I knew?

Seeing me staring blankly, somewhat foolishly, he stretched out his arm, pulled me along with the blanket towards him, and lifted me into his embrace. My heart raced, "Hey... what are you doing?"

Being so close, his breath enveloped me, his handsome face drawing nearer, making it hard for me to breathe.

Suddenly, I remembered the passionate kiss by the riverbank last night, embarrassingly so. It's often said that alcohol strips away decency, and now I believed it.
