The Dog Bites

Monica furiously turned to George, "George, damn right I'm mad! So what? You feel sorry for her? Have the guts to hit me back if you can, then I'll respect you!"

"Brother..." Fiona, still holding her face, cooed at George and glared at the furious Monica, "Who do you think you are to hit me?"

"I hit you, and I'll do it again! You commit these despicable acts and then play the victim. You're a bitch, and slapping you is letting you off easy. Try talking back to me again! If you dare raise your voice at Grace again, I'll tear your mouth apart. What? Got the guts to do the deed but not to own up to it?"

Monica's words struck a chord in George, who then looked at me, assessing my demeanor with a trace of displeasure, "Speak! What has she done?"

His tone implied that he thought I was making a fuss over nothing, clearly not believing that Fiona could have done anything too outrageous.

"You ask her!" I shouted back, fury coursing through me.
