Spousal Standoff

On Monday, George received a notice from Wise Horizon that the signing of the contract was on hold. He was utterly dumbfounded, watching as what seemed like a sure gain was slipping through his fingers, leaving him agonizingly frustrated.

Even when he visited me at the hospital, his mind was clearly elsewhere. I asked him to process my discharge; I wanted to go home. I didn't want my daughter spending her days with the Smith Family. Fiona's words lingered in my mind; Ken Smith didn't care for his daughter, and I only felt at peace with her under my watch.

Before the paperwork was completed, Sam hurried in. Observing their hesitant demeanor, I knew something was up. As soon as they stepped out, I quietly got off the bed and listened from the door as they spoke in the corridor.

Sam's voice was earnest as he tried to persuade, "Boss, no more hesitation. You need to prioritize what's important. If you don't figure something out soon, it will all be for nothing."
