A New Beginning Unfolds

All these years entering the Smith Family's home, I truly never understood them. In fact, when Ken Smith mentioned that George and Fiona were not blood-related, I became very curious.

"Yes, Ken Smith had this problem when he was young; he kept a woman at home," the old lady said angrily.

"At home?" I was a bit confused by what she meant.

"That woman was shameless. She said she was coming to the city to find work and ended up staying at our house. That was just after I had married his father and we had started our life together," the old lady explained with a pained expression.

"You know the old house. Despite such conditions, they got together right under my nose. But by then, I was already pregnant. In our generation, divorce was a major disgrace, especially for someone who had just gotten married."

The old lady spoke with resentment, and I listened, dumbfounded. It really was a case of 'like father, like son.'
