The Tide Has Turned?

My heart was pounding, and my hands clenched tightly on their own.

The next second, the door finally opened in front of us.

I quickly glanced inside to see the spot where I had seen Diane earlier.

The food was still on the table, but Diane was nowhere to be seen.

I stepped forward, disappointed, trying to get a better look inside.

The man who opened the door immediately blocked the entrance and looked at me sternly. "Who are you looking for?"

Vivian smiled at the man and said softly, "Why are you being so fierce? I'm looking for Diane. I have something to discuss with him."

I really admired Vivian's boldness.

The man wasn't buying it. He looked Vivian up and down and then looked at me with displeasure. "What Diane? There's no Diane here."

"I just saw him!" Vivian said stubbornly. "I just need to ask him something. It'll only take a few minutes."
