I didn't respond; I was reluctant to believe that Joy Wilson was behind this. After dinner, I fell into a deep sleep, sleeping soundly until the next morning, unaware of who might have visited last night.
Later, when Williams came to see me, he told me that the bodyguards were sent by Martin Hansen. This actually relieved me. Looking at the situation objectively, if I had to choose between Wise Horizon and Martin Hansen, I'd prefer the latter, as his favor seemed easier to repay.
I stayed in the hospital for half a month. The official investigation into the whole incident concluded as I expected: inconsequential, with a scapegoat found. I was of course unsatisfied with this result, but I was powerless. After all, the case was wrapped up too perfectly, without a single flaw.
