System and the world core (part 2)

There was no mistaking it, floating there in the center of the sphere an exact replica of his mortal world stood still. He could recognize the former continents and mountain ranges, deserts and vast forest lands. It was overwhelmingly nostalgic, but didn't exactly suit his tastes for what he wanted to achieve.

"World preview has been generated, please make any adjustments you wish."

Once again the system chimed in to remind him of what to do next. All he had to do was think about what he wanted to see, and the world changed almost instantly. He removed all the small island chains and clumped all the land back together into one great continent. Then he split that continent into seven even pieces, distributing them evenly across the face of the world.

He spent a good amount of time adjusting each continent individually, placing natural recourses, mountains, forests, and other such necessities for the desired variance and beauty of his new creation. Lakes and rivers, desert regions, even polar and tundra hand their day. Each individual continent almost represented a new world in and of themselves. It was strange to say the least, and no one but Veron knew exactly what purpose that would serve.

"Final adjustments have been made, verified that all natural recourses are abundant, multiple biomes have formed, climate and weather patterns are stable. Confirmed that world is suitable for life."

'I should hope so.' Veron thought proudly, 'I needed each and every one of those hours to make sure that my next idea goes off without a hitch.'

"You may now introduce additional laws into your world, currently only the basic laws of the universe apply. Gravity, the weak and strong nuclear force, etc."

It took a while fore Veron to come to any kind of decision about what kind of laws he would institute. He knew that his world would one day be invaded, but there was no actual time line for that event. He needed a way for his creations to advance quickly enough that they would be able to survive.

"System I have a question." Veron's voice trembled nervously, he didn't know exactly how his idea would be received. But he had a feeling that if it was possible, than both he and his creations could advance very fast. Perhaps much faster than any other new god before him.

"Feel free to ask anything you like, I am here to clear your doubts and assist you in making your vision a reality."

Heaving a large sigh to calm himself Veron affirmed his determination. "Would it be possible to bind my divine core with my world core?"

Silence fell for what felt like an eternity. He had spoken softly but was still overheard by those around him. Xeron's eyes could be seen to briefly flash with excitement, but that expression quickly vanished. He didn't want to influence Veron's choice in any way, but he couldn't help but hope that he went through with it.

"Affirmative, you may fuse your divine core with your world core. Doing so would bring several advantages but also carries great risks. Would you like the detailed explanation?"

"An abbreviated version would be fine for me thank you." Veron could guess that one of the potential risks was death, it only made sense that if he bound his divine core to his world that he would share its fate.

"The biggest advantage of this is that it allows for the infinite replenishment of your worlds natural resources. It would also allow for the resources in your world to improve in quality and quantity over time. Another large advantage is that in the event you introduce some sort of magic in your world, the energy required for its activation would be infinitely replenished as well. It will cost a permanent reduction in your divine energy of 3 points to make the fusion, will you proceed?"

It seemed like a no brainer for Veron at this point. These advantages alone would enable him to create incredible beings and accelerate their growth. He wouldn't have to worry about running out of key resources because his divine energy would continuously create more. He was just about to accept when he remembered.

"You did not tell me what the biggest flaw is."

"Should your world be destroyed, you will cease to exist."

The reply from the system was both instant and intense. Veron knew it was the truth, and he had guessed as much already. Still the potential of his world and the speed at which it would grow alleviated much of his concern. It took only a few moments of introspection before he made his choice, and all of existence would one day be glad that he did.

"I will proceed with the fusion."

"Please stand by, the fusion of your divine and world core's will begin shortly."

Only a few seconds went by before a change began to occur. Veron could feel a pulling force in the center of his chest, as though something was being drug out of him. It wasn't painful but was certainly uncomfortable, a few minutes went by under this constant pressure before a small pebble sized crystal exited from his chest.

The crystal was resplendent with light, as though it was the noon day sun itself. It burned with energy and glory the likes of which would vaporize any mortal being who happened to be too close.

Veron could still feel a connection with this glorious thing, but it was soon interrupted when it got sucked into the core of his new world. A heavy tension fell over the room as everyone there waited with baited breath. As Veron was the first to use the World Core Generator, none of the others knew what was going on. But they had a feeling that it was something spectacular.

Minutes felt like hours as the new gods waited for something to happen, then suddenly about 15 minutes after the cores had first joined together an enormous pulse of light came bursting from the world core.

Thick tendrils of golden light wrapped themselves around the new world before settling back underneath the surface. The continents, the sea, the forests, the whole world itself was growing. New mountain ranges sprung into being along with all the other natural phenomena Veron had built. Enormous forests, grand vistas, vast prairies, and all manner of climates sprung into being and began to function.

Once everything was settled down Veron zoomed in on his creation. He could see a bright golden core setting in the center of his world, thick golden veins spread out from it and connected themselves to each of the seven continents. He could see how this energy never depleted itself, but that it was continually forcing the continents to improve.

"Congratulations!" Came the sudden voice of the system. For some reason it seemed to be excited about what just happened. "Your cores have successfully fused and are now functioning as a divine energy generator. Thanks to the additional divine energy that you sacrificed in the process, you were able to create something extraordinary."

"What do you mean extra?" Veron was confused, happy, but confused. "I thought you said it required 3 permanent points of my divine energy to make it work."

"It does, but during the process you channeled more of your divine energy into the sphere subconsciously. Doing so allowed me to go beyond the typical fusion and create a reciprocal system. So that as the divine energy forces your world to improve, the improvements replace the divine energy that was expended."

"Wow." Was all Veron could really think to say, it was beyond what he had anticipated. He couldn't help but wonder now if that meant that most of his work was done for him. The system was quick to throw some ice into his shower before he got to out of hand.

"Please note that the improvements to your world, via the reciprocal engine, will not count towards your growth. Your world will continue to improve in natural resource quantity and quality without your input. But if you wish to advance along eternity you will still have to raise your creations well."

'I suppose i can't be to disappointed then.' Veron was truly excited about the prospects that this new fused core would bring to him. And he could still feel that he was in control of the divine energy contained in it. But be now only had access to 7 out of the original 10 points, but that was just fine for him. He had an idea of what he would use them for, and he could only hope that it worked out half as well as this fusion had.

"You may now proceed with the introduction of new laws."

It took all of half a second for Veron to decide on the kind of progression system he would introduce. He liked the whole core of energy idea so he went with that. Each being born into his world would have a core within themselves, this core would be functionally the same as his own divine core. They would need to fill it with energy and then compress it to change its state, once reaching the peak of the solid stage they would then be able to break through into the next rank.

"This is gonna be fun." A broad smile spread across his face as he dove into the details of his new system. Someday in the future the beings born into his world would be known as the greatest warriors in existence.
