Chapter 11 Wallfacer Hearing 2_1

Logic's speech on the doomsday battle was met with approval from those seated below, all of whom were elites of human society. Faced with the doomsday battle, the only option was unconventional warfare, and the Wallfacer Project was in itself an unconventional part.

They had the deepest understanding of the Wallfacer Law, aware that Wallfacers would have a significant impact on human society in the future, but they were unafraid because "there are no losers" in this grand bet on humanity's fate—they had staked everything.

They also discerned the second layer of meaning in Logic's words, Tyler's potential space Pearl Harbor Plan was real, but this was the price humanity should bear, otherwise, it wouldn't be a bet that staked everything.

Furthermore, the third layer of meaning implied that the PDC should attempt to mitigate the accusations against Tyler, suggesting that discussing the anti-human nature of Wallfacer plans was also a way to narrow the gap between Wallfacers and humans.

And even a fourth layer, since the PDC had embarked on this grand bet on humanity's fate, it needed to delegate authority to the Wallfacers, providing them with the utmost support.

There might have been other implications, not even realized by Logic, as to how big the gap between humanity and the Trisolarans truly was. Now, people were told it was like the difference between an army from the First World War and a modern military.

This could subconsciously lead one to think that winning with unconventional warfare was possible; seeing even a one in ten thousand chance of feasibility could greatly weaken the current state of spiritlessness, depression, and extreme despair in the human world.

Logic paused for a moment before continuing, "We cannot demand Wallfacers to abide by human ethical standards; the Wallfacer Project is not a dinner invitation, it requires a bloody price, and that is also the price humanity must bear.

For the continuation of civilization, all useful means can be utilized; we need victory, a victory by any means necessary! This is the mission bestowed upon Wallfacers by the Wallfacer Law.

I propose the introduction of an Anti-humanity Bill tailored for Wallfacers, where we must significantly lower the standard for accusations of crimes against humanity for Wallfacers.

Take Tyler's compromised plan, for instance; it was merely a ruse thrown out by Tyler to lure out the ETO, to assess whether the plan could pose a threat to the Trisolaran Interstellar Fleet.

If we can ascertain whether Ball Lightning research could be effective, we could then devise countless plans based on this intelligence.

Clearly, Mister Taylor's plan was highly successful, but there was a deep misunderstanding of Tyler before, even labeling him as anti-human, which, of course, is also an honor for Mister Taylor.

When it comes to Wallfacers, we cannot hastily determine whether they are anti-human; we need looser standards in the absence of clear truth."

The reputation of Wallfacers cannot collapse in the hearts of the people. Restoring the reputation of Wallfacers and strengthening humanity's confidence in the future is the foundation for all future plans. Proposing the Anti-humanity Bill for Wallfacers was the first step as discussed between Logic and Lin Sen.

There was a buzz of discussion below and after some deliberation, the PDC Chairman replied, "The war against Trisolaris is unconventional, and necessary sacrifices are inevitable, but humanity must adhere to its most fundamental bottom lines. We agree to introduce the Anti-humanity Bill for Wallfacers!"

Garanin, the current PDC Chairman, understood that the Anti-humanity Bill for Wallfacers was meaningless, but it could lessen the estrangement between Wallfacers and humans. Previously, people adored Wallfacers like gods, which was also a manifestation of a great divide.

Today's speech by Logic could also make humanity realize that Wallfacers are more formidable than they imagined, and everyone must hold Wallfacers in awe; the Trisolarans are fearsome, but Wallfacers are equally so.

Lin Sen felt fortunate to live in this era; had he arrived 200 years later, he would have had no expectations of those new humans.

It was the present humans who were the hope. The PDC's proposing of the Wallfacer Plan, betting on humanity's fate, was a display of spirit and determination that would not be seen again in the future.

Lin Sen needed humanity to maintain the status of Common Era People while also ushering in a new technological revolution. The ideological revolution following this great depression was essentially defeatism.

Such a technological revolution was not needed by Lin Sen, and such a societal form was just another of Lin Sen's plans, one that required a moment yet to come in the future, perhaps even until the great nadir.

On the original timeline, facing the doomsday war four centuries later, human beings extensively restructured their economy, frantically exploited resources, but technological breakthroughs were repeatedly delayed.

The human climate environment deteriorated rapidly, with natural disasters, bitter cold, extreme heat, and famine plunging humanity into the great nadir. The hungry legions advanced, tens of millions fled famine, and the world population dropped from 8 billion to a nadir of 1.5 billion, even at the end of the great nadir the human population stood only at 3.5 billion.

That period was hellish, humanity was still resiliently holding on, until they began to doubt whether, even for the sake of victory in the doomsday war, all their sacrifices were worth it. In the end, they chose to lie flat, focusing their efforts on improving the people's livelihood.

An ideological revolution brought about a technological revolution, and humans became resolute in comfortably following this path, never intending to look back.

However, the reborn humans were no longer humans as they had accomplished significant breakthroughs in various technologies, yet they lost what was most precious to the Common Era People.

No one could blame them, for the great nadir was simply beyond human power to contend with; the Common Era People did everything they could, and 1.5 billion was their answer to history.

All Lin Sen could do was prepare, to prepare desperately.

Logic continued, "Thank you all. Now let's get back to my original topic, the Trisolaran's flaw."

A single sentence made everyone serious, their gazes focused on Logic as they all wanted to hear what Logic, who had been in hiding for years, had finally discovered.

Logic went on, "The flaw of the Trisolarans is that they pushed for the anti-escape bill."

I investigated the entire process of the anti-escape bill coming into effect and found that the ETO was behind pushing the bill. On this point, I had previously asked the PDC to investigate as well; they have more detailed investigation results that can be released by the PDC after the meeting.

The ETO would not suddenly do something like this. There's only one possibility, the Trisolarans are afraid of our escape. What exactly are they hiding?

I have been studying the Trisolarans, extrapolating their thought patterns from their environmental conditions for survival. The Trisolarans are computing and logical giants, but they are also children in terms of cunning and imagination.

The cunning-deficient Trisolarans fail to understand one thing, that every one of their commands and actions is in fact directing us toward a path.

The Trisolarans may look down on us as insects, but in terms of cunning or thinking patterns, they are the true insects through and through.

Fearful of our escape, they had the ETO promote the anti-escape scheme. The Trisolarans might even explain to the ETO that humans are very dangerous, they fear us, letting an enemy whose thinking is completely opaque escape into the universe is very perilous.

They don't realize that the essence of promoting the anti-escape bill is that we value something more than our lives, and that is humanity's bottom line.

Humanity needs to unite. Those who are allowed to escape will not have any combat power, and those who have escaped will no longer be human.

We would have enacted the anti-escape bill even without the ETO's promotion, confirming one thing, that Trisolaris is thoroughly insect-like.

Through this flaw, undeniably, they have opened a crack for us and torn a layer off the Trisolarans' veil of mystery."
