Chapter 233 Post-War Wallfacer Hearing

Crisis Era Year 202, a week after the doomsday battle.

The United Government of the Solar System Fleet, Post-war Wallfacer Hearing before the Permanent Defense Council.

All Wallfacers and key figures of all forces of the Solar System's human society were present at this hearing.

The co-chairman began with a speech, "At this moment, our hearts are filled with joy and emotion.

"We celebrate the great victory we have achieved, finally breaking free from the gloom the Trisolarans had cast over our heads for two hundred years.

"Before proceeding, please allow me, on behalf of all humanity, to observe a moment of silence for the warriors who bravely sacrificed their lives in this war."

A few minutes later, the moment of silence ended.

The co-chairman continued, "The greatest plan in human history is none other than the Wallfacer Project.

"Even now, I am deeply shaken by the exquisite strategies and profound layouts of all the Wallfacers.

"It is unimaginable that they saw everything as it is today 200 years ago, whereas those of us in this era do not have a clear understanding of the world.

"Here, please allow me to express, on behalf of all humanity, our highest respect to the Wallfacers."

All the attendees stood up and turned their gaze unanimously toward the four Wallfacers standing at the center, paying them the highest respect.

In that instant, enthusiastic applause surged like a tide, and every gaze conveyed deep reverence and admiration for the Wallfacers.

After the applause subsided, the co-chairman said:

"Although we have successfully repelled the invasion of the Trisolarans, the crisis facing humanity is far from over.

"Furthermore, we are about to face even greater crises, or rather, we are already in the midst of a greater crisis.

"Two hundred years ago, when the Trisolaris crisis emerged, the human world came to realize a fact, that humanity had been completely exposed under the watchful eyes of the Trisolaran world, rendering any resistance against Trisolaris meaningless.

"Fortunately, the Trisolarans are quite incompetent in cunning, disguise, and deception. Humanity must seize this advantage to strike back, thus the Wallfacer Project was devised.

"The plan selected a group of strategists and leaders to formulate strategic plans, these lone rangers carried the fate of humanity, tasked with saving and continuing our entire civilization.

"Their thoughts and actions presented to the outside were carefully planned disguises, misdirection, and deceit, in order to delay the Trisolaran world from discerning our true strategic intent for as long as possible.

"This great plan is undoubtedly the most successful in human history, without any equals.

"It selected five Wallfacers, each of whom, with their wisdom and courage, made indelible contributions to humanity.

"It was under the outstanding leadership and untiring efforts of the Wallfacers that humanity was able to successfully withstand this invasion by the Trisolaran civilization.

"But a new crisis lies before us once again, and the Wallfacers must continue to carry their mission.

"They will need to lead us in facing and overcoming this new crisis together.

"We have confidence that under their guidance, humanity will surely usher in a brighter future.

"Now, please, Mr. Lin Sen will explain the strategies and plans he has devised for the new crisis facing our future."

Lin Sen took the stage, "First, please allow me to digress. Before coming here, I heard many suggestions to change the naming of our era to The Deterrence Era.

"Because the current peace between humanity and Trisolaris is based on the Dark Forest Deterrence.

"This I do not agree with.

"First, the peace between humanity and the Trisolarans is not based on Dark Forest Deterrence, and the Swordholder project proposed by the government of the Solar System is merely a means to that peace.

"Our peace was achieved through the dedication of countless individuals in war, and it was obtained through the strength we hold in our hands.

"Second, our crisis is far from over; in fact, it has become more severe. It's nowhere near the time to end the crisis, as we have always been in a state of crisis, and that has never changed.

"Third, I hope that a ray of light can shine through the Dark Forest; adopting the Deterrence Era is not conducive to this goal, and this is part of the plan.

"I don't want the name 'deterrence' to become a nightmare for humanity, or even to cause a disease in society, known as Dark Forest phobia.

"Now, no large-scale broadcast is being used throughout the Solar System; even the environment on Earth, which was once filled with electromagnetic noise, seems to have disappeared in an instant.

"It is necessary to control the use of large broadcasts, but we also don't need to be overly afraid of the Dark Forest.

"Today, I also have an important announcement to make, which is to reveal the true intent behind two plans I once orchestrated.

"Everyone must be aware of two things: one, the Deep Space Fleet's final battle escape plan; and two, Shui Wa's interstellar journey.

"These two plans, seemingly simple, hide a much deeper strategic layout."

The Deep Space Fleet is currently cruising in the Oort Cloud and should not be at risk of exposure for the time being. The Oort Cloud extends up to one light-year, and the signals from humanity's Global Broadcast Station can also propagate for one light-year.

The signals eventually disperse at about 2 light-years, but if there is a 'Forest Hunter' within 6 light-years, given their level of civilization, they would almost certainly detect this entropy of information.

Whether it's a dispersed broadcast or the laser and particle beam weapons fired by a Space Battleship, they will all propagate far, and once detected by the 'Hunters' in the vicinity, they will become immense threats.

Humanity is better off than in the original work, as humanity has not performed an experiment to confirm the Dark Forest, and the probability of being detected is lower than in the original work.

After 'Hunters' receive the information on stellar coordinates, they certainly don't know the exact location of the Star Shooter (the civilization that sends the stellar coordinates), but they will know the direction and, crucially, will be able to confirm that the Star Shooter is not far away.

This is a simple concept, as the method of emitting coordinates by the Star Shooter is rather primitive, indicating that this civilization does not have very advanced technology.

The fact that they can send the coordinates of other civilizations also indicates that their own coordinates are not far from themselves, at most a few dozen light-years away.

Additionally, higher civilizations do not need to become Star Shooters. They have the capability to directly destroy whatever coordinates they focus on, without having to employ others to do it.

The 'Hunters' are well aware of the danger of Star Shooters; higher civilizations will surely go to investigate, and one must not indulge in the beautiful illusion that they can hide after becoming a Star Shooter. Compared to exposed coordinates, the 'Hunters' prefer to pursue the Star Shooters.

Therefore, the Dark Forest experiment conducted by Logic in the original work also, to a certain extent, increased the risk of humanity being exposed.

Next, Mr. Lin Sen began to reveal and explain the true intent behind his final battle escape plan:

"Many may have always believed that the purpose of the final battle escape plan was for a decisive battle.

"One important reason we could defeat the Trisolarans was that the 'escape' tied down the Trisolarans, and even one of The Waterdrops was directly destroyed by the Global Broadcast Station.

"However, the core of the final battle escape plan is not the battle, but the escape.

"The designer of the escape surveillance system, Mr. Wade, changed a symbol among billions of lines, preventing the escape surveillance system from being triggered, and even the Trisolarans did not detect this.

"If captains of the Deep Space Fleet, with a determination and courage to embrace death, steer firmly into the vast interstellar space, then they have completed the escape."

United Government Chairman: "Mr. Lin Sen, we apologize, as we are not accusing you.

"But can you explain why you would do this?

"You are aware of the danger this presents, as it makes it easier for us to expose ourselves in the Dark Forest.

"Moreover, the crew members of the battleships are all implanted with a Thoughtcontrol, so even if the Executive Captain leads the battleship to escape, the crew would not agree, making such an escape impossible."
