C48: Noise Rune

Ken spent that evening going through the contents of the books on Shamanic and Totemic magic sent by Roshoka. There was enough in there to allow a reader to establish a basic foundation on these paths, but nothing beyond that.

Despite being practiced simultaneously among the lower races like Goblins and Wyrms, the cores of Shamanic magic and Totemic magic were different. The former was concentrated on development of one's own ability, and the latter was focused on strengthening one's external forces.

The roots of shamanic magic were spiritual, and the spells in this path were cryptic, rarely affected the material world directly, and were tied to abstract concepts like time, fate, clairvoyance, and spirituality. Whereas totemic magic was fully dedicated to building a strong army to protect and attack. These two domains meshed together like day and night, forming a fairly complete path of magic.
