C56: The Fun Has Just Begun

Ken pulled the bowstring back to its limit and watched the battlefield with bated breath. The sandy storm around them was now about to reach the shooting range of the furthest layer of defense, the archers who had climbed up on the sentry towers a thousand feet away from the central area. 

 

Several swordsmen were also stationed there, but knowing that they had no chances of making a stand against the tide of ferocious, wild creatures, the swordsmen had moved to the sides of the roads, ready to strike down a few oncoming enemies and then hide inside the cabins for safety. 

 

The horde was now close enough for even Ken to identify the individual members at the vanguard. Just as Henor had said, it was difficult to see how these creatures could be connected logically. From wild, barbaric goblins that lived in caves, to six-legged stoneshell serpents, smoke covered ghost rhinos, and lava leaking bone elephants...
