The third wave of the horde could already be seen on the horizon, and their fellow trainees on the battlefield had no sentry towers to rely on, this time.
Most of them had climbed up on the roofs of the intact cabins across the small town. These roofs were quite low, allowing some lightweight beasts to easily jump over them. They would hardly be safe there. Neither would they be able to deal any significant damage to the horde due to the lack of long distance weapons.
One after another, Ken continued to throw the burning body parts into the same trajectory through the gateway, and the wall of runes behind it kept becoming exposed to his eyes. Relying on his memories to figure out the exact nature of each visible rune was really not an option, but his experience with such formations was enough to tell him the basics.
