At long last, night time came and the time I had been waiting for since the beginning of the day finally arrived - For Mum and Richard to leave for a two-day trip.
"You people should take care o," My mum said to us while clinging to Richard's arm. "And don't destroy my house, Miriam and Tilda."
"Mummy I'll miss you two very much," Sharon pouted and moved to hug both my mum and Richard. "Two days is too far sef."
Mum laughed and moved to cup Sharon's face.
"Honey, we'll be back before you know it. Your dad and I need to spend some quality time, you know?"
"That's right, Sharon. You're a big girl and you'll be fine," Richard chuckled and lightly pulled at Sharon's left cheek.
"Ok bye guys!" Sharon broke into a smile and stepped back into the same line as Miriam and I stood.
"Bye baby," Mum smiled as well and so did Richard.
"I know Tilda will never bid us farewell," She suddenly added with a sneer. "Her father's blood is truly flowing in her veins."
"Bye," I reluctantly muttered.
"If you like," Mum eyed me before entering with Richard into the back seat of the black BMW that drove out of our large compound.
With that, the three of us left, went in. Miriam was the only maid who stayed back while the others went to their respective homes. Like I said before, Miriam was the only maid that slept in our house.
We all then retired to our respective rooms. I was really stressed out and needed some rest. After taking a clean shower, I slipped into my light pink night dress and flung myself onto my comfy bed.
"Oh baby I've missed you so much," My voice came out as muffled, as I rolled my face into the bed.
"Now all I need is some soothing music to put me to some good sleep," I said to myself and took up my phone.
That was when I remembered that I had left my headphones in the living room.
"Ughh," I groaned in frustration. My legs were too tired to leave this bed.
At the end of the day, I had no choice but to head to the living room.
When I got to the living room, I met my headphones resting on the dinning table but then, something else caught my attention.
Grains of jollof rice scattered on a part of the glass dinning table in front one of the dinning chairs. It was a left over mess done by someone who had eaten there and that someone was who I knew very well.
"What nonsense is this?" I snapped.
Filled with annoyance at how spoilt someone could be, I marched up the stairs and made my way to Sharon's room.
Without knocking, I barged in without a care in the world.
"Are you psyche?!" Sharon immediately took off her headphones as soon as she saw me come into the room.
"What nonsense did you do downstairs?!" I thundered and moved to stand a few inches away from the foot of her bed. "Who do you think is your slave in this house to clean all that up?"
"Get out from my room," She glared at me from where she sat on her bed, not even listening to a word that came out of my mouth.
"Are you not the idiot that messed up where you ate without cleaning it up?" I fired back.
"What is Miriam in the house for?" She raised an eyebrow. "If it bothers you so much then you can go do it yourself."
"Oh," My eyes slowly widened.
"Ok," I added with a snap of my fingers.
This girl would have to learn that the world did not revolve around her.
I made my way out of her room, shutting the door violently behind me. I didn't head for my room instead, I went to the kitchen and retrieved the only local broom we had, with a dust pan.
Afterwards, I went to the dinning table and used the broom to sweep the grains of rice into the dust pan. I made sure to return the broom before I went back to Sharon's room with only the dust pan in my hand.
"Are you crazy?! Didn't I tell you to get out just now?" She looked at me sternly.
Without a word, I moved from the door up to her bed and immediately flung the contents of the dust pan onto her body, causing them to also fall on her bed.
That earned me a scream of disbelief and frustration from her.
"Now you will clean up your mess," I hissed and left the room without closing the door behind me this time.
As I was returning to me room, I saw Miriam rushing up the stairs.
"Small madam, wetin dey happen? I dey hear scream from downstairs just now," She looked worried.
"Don't worry about it, Miriam. It was just a cockroach I saw but I killed it already," I assured her with a smile and that was enough to relief her.
"Ok. I wan go sleep ehn. I don tire," She patted my shoulder before heading back downstairs.
After that, I also retired to my room. I was fulfilled and satisfied.
"Let me see what that stupid Sharon is going to do," I said to myself as I connected my headphones to my phone before placing them over my ears.
Playing R&B music was enough to keep me calm and even more comfortable. It was during this time that my mind wandered off to Miles.
He hasn't picked up my call since yesterday and even this morning. I wondered what was up with him. I picked up my phone and opened my contact list.
In reality, I saved his name just like I had done in my dream. Though, I had only made a few changes to it - "Mr. Sassy rude/lil nice blue eyes".
I dialed his number the first time.
No response.
The second time.
No response.
The third, fourth, and fifth time
Still, no response.
What in the world was going on? Was Miles alright? With the way his expression changed at the beach that day, I couldn't help but believe that something was off.
In fact, It felt like everything was off.
