Tell me

~ TILDA'S POV ~

I was heading out of the class when he came in. I couldn't help but appreciate how he was just as good looking in school uniform as he was in casual fits.

"Hi," I stopped to greet.

"Hey," It sounded forced to me but I pretended not to notice. After saying that, he walked past me and into the class.

I glanced back at him. There was something definitely wrong with Miles - something I felt had something to do with me yet he wasn't telling me.

With pursed lips, I went out of the class and returned soon after.

Since it was still early in the morning, we were not more than five who had come to school. Instead of returning to my seat, I succumbed to the urge of going to his seat.

It came as a relief to me that none of his seatmates including Tobi had arrived. Tobi was a punctual student but he wasn't always as early to school as I was.

"Hey," I hopped to sit next to him with a bright smile on my face.

He looked up from the notes he was copying and met my gaze.

"Hey," He answered and returned to what he was doing immediately after.

I heaved a sigh and moved my body in a way that I was now facing his side.

"You know, you can be a really boring person at times," I tsked. "I like Mr. Sassy rude lil nice blue eyes a lot more than Mr. Sassy rude cold-blooded blue eyes."

At the mention of that, his gaze returned to me and his both eyebrows were raised.

"What in the world is a Mr. Sassy blue eyes?" He asked.

"Um... It's this...erm-"

However, I was cut short by his next line of words.

"Me," He stared at me as if saying, "That's seriously the best you could think of?"

A small chuckle escaped him and he shook his head before resuming writing once again.

"I... It's not like that. I mean... Y-you," I buried my face into my palms after that. "Forget it."

I raised my face and returned my gaze to him.

"Look, I've been trying to reach you since that day but you didn't even bother to pick my calls. I thought we were friends... again," I finally let it all out.

"I was busy," was all he said, not even bothering to look at me.

So he purposely ignored me?

"Something's wrong, isn't it?" I sighed.

His lips twitched slightly. "Everything is fine. You shouldn't get bothered unnecessarily."

"You're so bad at lying," I tsked and used my index finger to poke the side of his head.

"I'm not lying," He deadpanned.

I went silent. Why was I even bothered about him picking my calls or even about his whereabouts?

"I'm not trying to be Mr. Sassy rude, Tilda. Everything is really fine," He assured me with a smile. Even though it appeared forced, it was honestly the most genuine smile I had seen on him since he started attending Nexus High.

"Oh my goodness," I gasped and placed my hands over my mouth.

"What?" He sent me a questioning look.

"You..." My finger pointed at him. "You smiled."

"That's what you have always wanted, right?" He tilted his head a little to the side.

"I'll leave you now. It seems like I've been disturbing a lot," I moved to my feet.

"Help me out," He sneered at me.

"Say wetin happen?" I eyed him. "You lazy thing, copy that note by yourself. Am I the one who fails to write in them?"

With a hearty laughter, I left for my seat but not without making sure to take a glimpse of Miles' expression of disbelief.

After the assembly that day, the first class we had was Mathematics. Mr. Charles a.k.a Uncle one-shirt walked into the class with the assistant class prefect, Amahle by his side.

And guess what we all in the class noticed! Uncle one-shirt finally changed his shirt for the first time in two weeks.

You see, God had been doing so much unbelievable wonders in our school. First, It was Temi during the after-election party and today, it was Mr. Charles.

Mad o

"Good morning everyone," He greeted us with a smile.

Now, I was beginning to wonder what the occasion was that made the man glow so brightly today. Uncle one-shirt was one of those many teachers who were always strict and barely had a smile on their faces.

"Good morning sir," The class responded to his greetings.

"Sir, you look very handsome this morning o," Francis Ejike remarked.

"As in," The class added in unison.

"Sir, you're just looking so take away. What's the good news?" Vera Daniels, one of the half-castes in our class chipped in.

"Anything for us?" Kiki smiled in addition.

Mr. Charles simply laughed.

"All of you are not ok. Well, my wife just gave birth yesterday to a bouncing baby girl!" He announced with an air of pride hovering around him.

The whole class was immediately plunged into a moment of jubilating and cheering.

"Somebody say Baba!" The carefree duo, Eric and Chinedu began while Emeka and members of his crew backed it up with rhythmic beating of their desks.

"Baba!" The rest of us sang as backup.

"Somebody say Igwe!" The boys continued.

"Igwe!"

Those who could dance went on their feet and started delivering their best traditional dance moves.

"Baba baba baba baba baba Mi lo ke!"

"Babaaaaaaa ooooo baba!!!"

The singing, drumming on the desks, and dancing continued while Mr. Charles could not help but laugh. Even though he tried to make us keep our voices down, the laughter would overwhelm him once again.

However, we ended the moment soon and Mathematics class finally began for that day.

After that, there were four more classes that took place before the break period including the Physics period we dreaded.

Our Physics teacher was one of those teachers who could divided a lesson period of one hour into 45 minutes for teaching and 15 minutes for storytelling, and that 15 minutes always felt like an unending 500 years.

Like, no one wants to listen to how you escaped 13 bears in a forbidden forest so Mr. Man just get on with your teaching and leave!

"So back then when I was 14 years old," He would say. "I was a very stubborn boy but not like any of you here. I was just stubborn because I was insistent on becoming a warrior in my village. My mum was against it but I wanted to be strong. Then, I had six packs and everything not now that too much stress has made everything to disappear. Now you see Osazee, I was training to become a warrior at 13 and you at 18 is still making noise in the class as if you are an unleashed dog. I was a passionate about becoming a warrior and I made it into the team for three years, not that I was kicked out but I personally resigned with my own hands. You know me ehn, I don't let people use me anyhow."

You can tell that he was trying to tell Osazee to maintain calm and quiet but decided to prolong the matter into a story of himself.

Typical him.

Fortunately, break period soon came up and Kiki was already tugging at my arm for us to head for the cafeteria.

"Just give me a minute," I said to her and immediately went to Miles' seat. The other guys were still there, some of them preparing to leave the class. Even Tobi was still there and when he saw me, he stared unblinkingly.

"Could you come with me for a sec?" I asked Miles, my eyes pleading.

He stared at me for a brief moment.

"Sure," He shrugged and stood up to follow.

At that moment, I could bet that Tobi's gaze was now moving between the two of us.
