Chapter 81

The day had come. It was early morning. A beautiful and crisp morning. Cersei controlled her nervousness. It was too easy. It was too simple. She was scared and so was Ned. She could tell her husband did not trust the prince's reaction to the queen's announcement.

She was even more scared after learning that the girl was with child once more. It made very little sense. She expected a war and so did Ned but there was nothing but subdued wedding planning.

Sansa had outdone herself. She made a beautiful Targaryen robe in less than a week. The queen and Jon decided that Daenerys would remain a Targaryen but Jon would cloak her with the Stark Robe for the ceremony. They would wed in the Godswoods first and then the Sept. It was true that the Dragon queen was not religious but her subjects adhered to the Seven and so would she. It had been the crown prince's idea. He mentioned that the marriage had to have all legalities. "This union needs to be recognized by our people." The young man had said.

"They are waiting." Ned said. He wore his best clothes. He pushed his hair back and wore a golden direwolf pin on his breast.

Cersei nodded. "You look beautiful." He said and kissed her hand.

Lady Stark smiled sadly. She wore a dark blue dress with a direwolf necklace. Her hair was in a braid. Jeyne had placed sapphires on her hair. "I have a bad feeling about today." She told him in a small voice.

"We have lost my love." He said and smiled to her. He touched her cheek and kissed her softly.

Ned offered his arm and they walked down. Robb and Margaery followed them. The Tyrell girl wore a light green dress, entirely inappropriate for the weather.

"You look lovely lady Stark." The girl simpered.

Cersei remained quiet and walked ahead. She briefly looked toward the hall to look for her brother. She found no one. Sansa and Tyrion must already be in the Godswoods.

Cersei felt so much dread when she looked at the clearing. She slowed her pace and so did Ned. Robb and his little snake passed them. There was a small snowfall. Cersei remembered that it snowed when she married Ned.

Her husband seemed to remember as well. "You had snow in your hair the day your father gave you away. You wore a beautiful golden dress. Where is that dress?" He asked as they saw the clearing.

"I gave it to Joanna." She said simply.

"Smile my love." He said and hurried her. They walked to the Weirwood Tree. Jon was there with Robb and Tyrion. Her oldest son looked beautiful and so much like Ned. He wore dark clothes like his father. Ghost circled the woods with Grey Wind.

Cersei noticed her sister in law nearby. Sansa wore a big smile and sat by Margaery who also smiled brightly. The old bear talked to master Luwin. Jorah looked tired, sad but just as resigned as Ned.

Lady Stark kissed her son. "May you be as happy as your father and I have been." She said. Jon kissed her cheek. He must have known that her wishes were heartfelt but without any conviction.

There was a Septon, a northern man who had officiated many weddings. They waited for the Targaryens.

Ned stood close by her. They waited and looked up to the skies. The storm would soon come. It would force all of them to be in Winterfell for at least three more weeks.8 Cersei tried to breathe easier. She tried to convince herself that the royals would leave in three weeks. Jon would stay in the North for a few months and so would the queen. It was all arranged. Aegon would go in three weeks with Tyrion and Robb's parties. He would reach stay a few months with Robb in the Eyrie.

The queen and the rest of the royal party would travel ahead to the Capital. Jon was to stay another two months before joining his wife in the Kingsroad or King's Landing.

Cersei looked up to the skies and saw the three dragons. "Good omen." Tyrion said. Cersei doubted it very much. The creatures had gone south weeks ago but now they were all here; circling and unnerving her.

"She looks so young." Ned said next to her.

The queen did. Cersei sometimes forgot that this girl was only a few months older than Jon. Lady Stark often did not realize that the girl was that just a little girl. Daenerys Targaryen first of her name looked beautiful. Her platinum hair was loose and danced in the wind. She wore a heavy black and red robe with the Targaryen sigil.

Aegon looked older than his years. He looked imposing but happy. He was tall and looked just like Rhaegar had.

Cersei sighed and heard the Septon ask. "Who gives this woman?"

Aegon intoned quickly. "I Aegon Targaryen, Crown Prince of the Seven Kingdoms." He kissed his aunt in the forehead and offered her hand to Jon.

The ceremony was quick like Cersei remembered. Soon it was time for Aegon to uncloak her aunt. The girl shivered in the cold. Jon opened the wooden box and gently placed the grey and white Stark cloak over Daenerys.

Jon smiled at the Dragon queen so gently it was heart breaking. They were in love; so in love that it felt wrong to look at them in that moment.

The dragons cried in the sky. The queen smiled, she had snow in her hair and so did Jon; their eyes shone with happiness.

Cersei walked to her Sept and witnessed the same but different ritual. There was no cloaking anymore. This ceremony was longer and had more readings. Cersei saw as the newlyweds finally recited the words.

"Father. Smith. Warrior. Mother. Maiden. Crone. Stranger. I am yours & You are mine. From this day, till the end of my days." They said with huge smiles on their faces. The Septon tied the slip of fabric on their hands.

It was done; her Jon sealed his fate. He tied himself to a Targaryen; her boy would now share an unprecedented burden. He would never be theirs anymore. Jon belonged to her. He belonged to dragons, an ugly, painful chair and greedy people who would look for ways to stab and hurt him and all those whom he loved.
