A Simple No

Caleb lifted his head and wearily asked, "Will you be okay if I leave you alone for a second? I need to inform the doctor that you're awake."

"Yes," I spoke under my breath.

Caleb rushed out of the room and soon returned with a doctor.

The doctor did some check-ups on me and updated me about my condition. "When you were brought here yesterday, your collar bone had been severely fractured. We had to perform surgery on your shoulder to fix your bones. We have implanted a titanium plate on your collarbone for support. When your bone heals, the plate can be removed by performing another surgery."

Wait a minute! They brought me here yesterday? Just how long was I asleep?

And they had to implant a titanium plate? I felt bitter upon hearing that. I was as good as a broken doll now.

Caleb stood by the doctor's side and questioned, "How long will it take for her to heal completely?"

Yes, I want to know that too.
