Chapter 9: Night Emperor’s Rage

Jackson darted forward, slashing at the Night Emperor with all his might. Each strike felt like hitting a solid wall, but he didn't stop. Every blow pushed his strength to its limits, but the Demon Devourer hungered for more.

The system buzzed in his head:

"Warning: Life Force Consumption Accelerating."

The sword was draining him. Fast.

The Night Emperor raised his free hand. Shadows coalesced into spears, and with a flick of his wrist, he sent them flying toward Jackson.

Jackson barely had time to react. He dodged one—but the second spear grazed his side, tearing through his armor and drawing blood.

"Damn it!" He stumbled back, pain flaring through his ribs.

Jian seized the opening. She thrust her spear at the Night Emperor's exposed back, the tip glowing with golden energy.

"Piercing Star!"

Her spear struck true, driving into the Night Emperor's spine. He let out a guttural roar as his health bar dropped.

He's not invincible, Jackson realized. We can kill him.

I couldn't stop now—not when we were this close. The sword burned in my hands, whispering for more power.

I felt another notification flash:

"Activate Blood Rage? Warning: Extended use will drain life force beyond repair."

I hesitated—but only for a moment.

"Yes!"

A surge of raw energy flooded my veins. My muscles burned, but I was faster—stronger. With a cry, I dashed toward the Night Emperor.

I slashed across his chest, tearing through his decayed armor. My blade hummed with blood-red light as I struck again and again.

His health dropped to 30%.
