Chapter 37: The right time

Caleb grabbed her by her wrist, pulling her deeper into the woods, brushing past the branches sticking out into their path and squeezing through narrow spaces occasionally.

The sounds of the fallen leaves and branches scattered across the vast land crunching underneath their soles filled the air. They had walked past countless trees and bushes, she could barely recognise where she was.

"So what's so special about this place that you are going to show me?" Alexandra asked, her curious voice breaking the silence between them.

Caleb stopped in his tracks and whipped his head around to meet her gaze. There was a mischievous glint in his dark eyes. "You will soon find out. I don't want to ruin the surprise," he replied, shooting her a playful wink which only earned a scoff from her.

"What if you are planning to murder me here?" Alexandra asked in a teasing manner as they continued to walk, dodging a branch that was hanging way too low.
