Caleb lowered his gaze, looking down at the screen of his phone as they stood by the front door. He had just noticed the time. It was late in the night when they finally made their way back to the beach house.
From the windows, they could see that the lights were mostly turned off, leaving only a single lamp lighting up the entrance with its soft yellow glow. Carefully, Caleb pushed open the wooden door with Alexandra following right behind him. The soft creak of the door echoed in their ears, breaking the silence that once filled the place.
