When Alexandra finally married her childhood crush at the age of 25, she didn't expect that she would one day catch another woman in the arms of her husband while she hid in the bedroom closet. But there she was, anger, betrayal, and sadness washed over her all at once as she stared at her husband and the woman who had the same dark brown eyes and dark hair as her. “Let’s go,” Caleb demanded as he grabbed Alexandra by her wrist without a warning, pulling her away from the chaos and out of the ballroom in a matter of seconds while both Ethan and Hannah watched them leave with a smug smile on their faces.

“Why are we the ones leaving?” Alexandra questioned, yanking her wrist out of his grasp as soon as they were out of their sight, just the two of them hidden behind a wall somewhere. 

Caleb let out a deep breath. “I have my reasons, Al. Trust me.”

“Well, they can’t just -”

“Hey, hey listen.”

He was now looking down at her with both hands on her shoulders as she had her back pushed up against the wall, their faces only a few inches apart. “What?” 

A smirk etched itself onto his face. “I promise they will regret everything they had said earlier.”

“How so?”

“You’ll find out soon.”

It was already the next morning, yet Alexandra couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over her since Elisha's unexpected appearance last night. Her mind was still busy replaying the scenes from last night like a broken record player she couldn't fix, reminding her of the way Elisha was caressing Caleb and the way she batted her lashes at him.

It was obvious to anyone that she was trying so desperately to win him back, even if it meant that it would take everything to do so.

With her eyes barely opened, she turned around groggily, wanting to wrap her arms around Caleb but all she could feel was the cold mattress. She opened her eyes to see that he was no longer lying in the bed next to her, instead, she was greeted with an empty space on the large king-sized bed.

Rubbing her eyes, she sat up, her legs dangling by the edge of the bed as she called out to him. "Caleb?" Her eyes darted around the room, searching for his presence.
