When Alexandra finally married her childhood crush at the age of 25, she didn't expect that she would one day catch another woman in the arms of her husband while she hid in the bedroom closet. “Let’s go,” Caleb demanded as he grabbed Alexandra by her wrist without a warning, pulling her away from the chaos and out of the ballroom in a matter of seconds while both Ethan and Hannah watched them leave with a smug smile on their faces.

“Why are we the ones leaving?” Alexandra questioned, yanking her wrist out of his grasp as soon as they were out of their sight, just the two of them hidden behind a wall somewhere. 

Caleb let out a deep breath. “I have my reasons, Al. Trust me.”

“Well, they can’t just -”

“Hey, hey listen.”

He was now looking down at her with both hands on her shoulders as she had her back pushed up against the wall, their faces only a few inches apart. “What?” 

A smirk etched itself onto his face. “I promise they will regret everything they had said earlier.”

“How so?”

“You’ll find out soon.”

But she wasn't looking at him, instead, her eyes were boring right into Alexandra's as she spoke with her head slightly tilted to the side in defiance. "See son, I told you she doesn't care about you. She has chosen another man over you evidently. Are you contented now that you are finally witnessing it with your own eyes?" </p>

<p>It was a hard pill to swallow. Caleb's posture stiffened as tension built in the air, settling among them. He didn't say anything for a moment, he only pushed his mother's arm off his shoulder, hurt still evident in his dark eyes. "That's not true. Don't say that about her," he spoke with a clenched jaw, his mind still refusing to accept the truth that was harshly displayed right before his eyes. </p>
