The corners of Stephanie's lips twisted into a smirk, as she gently placed her hand on Caleb's shoulder. But she wasn't looking at him, instead, her eyes were boring right into Alexandra's as she spoke with her head slightly tilted to the side in defiance. "See son, I told you she doesn't care about you. She has chosen another man over you evidently. Are you contented now that you are finally witnessing it with your own eyes?"

It was a hard pill to swallow. Caleb's posture stiffened as tension built in the air, settling among them. He didn't say anything for a moment, he only pushed his mother's arm off his shoulder, hurt still evident in his dark eyes. "That's not true. Don't say that about her," he spoke with a clenched jaw, his mind still refusing to accept the truth that was harshly displayed right before his eyes.
