“A date? What do you mean? Please elaborate.”
Loral blinked at me several times. Ivan alternated looking from me to the princess as she walked to a chair and took a seat, his schoolboy playfulness set aside.
I leaned against my desk for support as she lifted her wide eyes to me. She took in a long steadying breath that expanded her chest as she thought more deeply about how to explain it.
Did she have the slightest idea how even that small movement affected me? I mentally shook myself to clear my head as she spoke again.
“I can’t help thinking that there must be a reason why the media is so insistent about going after my adoptive father. There were many other people actually involved and arrested, but William, who helped put an end to the event, is being harassed and humiliated. It feels deliberate and malicious and… personal.”
“Personal?” Ivan repeated questioningly.
“Like someone is deliberately pushing the media to dig into my adoptive father.”
