Chapter 24: The Dreams

The sky was lightening and the sun would soon rise. Lucy had barely awoken to realize the danger when Celeste swept her up in her arms and carried Lucy back to school. She was faster than Lucy would have been, she knew. Even with Lucy’s new, clearer vision Celeste was moving too fast for her to keep up focus.

She stopped just short of the door to Lucy’s dorm. Celeste gave her a swift kiss and disappeared into the fading night. Lucy felt stunned and dumbfounded. It all felt like a dream.

Lucy carefully made her way into her room and sat down on the bed. She was tired but too afraid to sleep. She didn’t want to wake up to find it had all been a dream. Her eyes burned as she finally laid down but her smile stayed on. She knew whatever the price was to be with Celeste she would pay it - no questions asked.

Lucy found herself in a forest, a dense and dark place she had never seen before. She knew she should be afraid but she couldn’t find the fear within her.
