Chapter 34: The Daylight Bar

It was daylight out. It was bright and warm. Lucy couldn’t remember the last time she felt that kind of warmth. Of course she wasn’t actually in the sun, just looking at it outside the tempered glass.

“How are we going to get off campus right now?” Lucy asked, trying not to let the fear creep into her voice. Celeste gave her a warm side eye smile.

“There are benefits to being the head mistress,” she replied but offered nothing else in the way of explanation. Lucy continued to follow and tried to put her anxiety out of her mind.

Celeste led the way to a small car garage she hadn’t ever seen before. Almost no one left the campus at all and certainly not during the day. She hadn’t thought about the idea of a vampire needing a car at all. When they came in the place was completely abandoned except for one car. The Lincoln was completely blacked out. The engine purred as the headlight bore brightly into their eyes.
