“What? What did you see?” Noah asked. Veronika reached over instinctively and suddenly Lucy had a vision. She flashed back into Veronika’s mind and she saw the aisle of trees leading up to the council. Lucy had been here before and a dark, rich panic grew inside of her instantly. She saw Veronika standing in front of the council. Lucy couldn’t hear what she was saying to them but somehow she knew it wasn’t going well and a sickly smile grew on Aleksandr’s face. 


Lucy pulled away quickly and got up to run. She didn’t answer her friends as they called after her. She didn’t explain or bother to put any books back. She just ran out and down the halls of the library, trying to see through the tears.
