Having siblings is like making music. Some high notes, some low notes, but it is always a beautiful song.
Ten(10) Years Later
"Three daughters and they're so peaceful with each other. You're blessed Margaret."
"I know." Smiles
Margaret is Rebecca's and Melanie's mom. After Amber's mother died, she and her daughters stayed at the mansion as official members of the Swares family. She looked at the girls at the other side of the garden, two following each other around and one watching over them. Full grown ladies she raised to reach the values of the society.
"Is the little one's behavior okay now? I heard she is very rude and disrespectful since her mother passed away."
Margaret's guest, Bianca del Rio, asked taking a sip of her tea and glancing at the girls every now and then.
"Mrs Rio don't say that. Though her attitude was a little bit off with I and my daughters when we came here it's not as you put it to be."
Margaret defended Amber with a frown on her face.
"Don't be offended my friend I was just asking."
"Please mind your words next time."
"I will I will."
.....
Later in the evening at the dining room.
"Amber where were you last night?"
Peter, their father asked with a stern expression while cutting a piece of meat.
"I.."
"Dad she was with me when I went to _"
"I didn't ask you Melanie. Amber where were you?"
Melanie looked at Amber pitifully and looked at her mum for help.
"Peter, let them finish up then you can continue. Let's not ruin the atmosphere with arguments."
Margaret held his hand and gave a light squize and continued eating. The topic was postponed to later.
Not too long the sound of pleas and a whip hitting something or someone could be heard.
Amber sat on her bed in her room with Rebecca attending to her wounds and Melanie comforting her.
"Does it hurt?"
"Of course it hurts you idiot. Just look at her body. Where did you two go to yesterday? And why did Melany return before you? Is this how you want your life to turn out? Waisted?"
"Rebecca _"
Rebecca threw the towel on the bed and walked out of the room.
"I'm sorry Amber. I shouldn't have taken you out."
"It's okay Melanie. I'm not complaining. Besides everything I do is wrong in his eyes. Don't blame yourself."
Amber, through the pain, reached out and wiped Melanie's eyes.
"You know, if one didn't know, they'd think you and Rebecca are the evil step sisters here to destroy me. Only the heavens know how blessed I am to have you two and Mum Maggie."
"Aww, we're blessed to have you too kiddo."
Melanie tapped Amber's shoulder and she winced.
"Ouch "
"Sorry "
