Dissatisfaction

Mila Hill was taken aback. Scarlett hadn't told her this woman was already married. A young man with dyed blond hair standing behind Mila nudged her arm cautiously, snapping her out of her daze.

Realizing she had promised Scarlett in front of so many people, Mila Hill couldn't afford to lose face by failing. Unbeknownst to her, all these small actions were noticed by Ava, reinforcing her trust in the words of the girl who had spoken to her.

Mila Hill retrieved a glass of red wine from somewhere and, with a smile, offered it to Ava. "No matter what, it's fate that we met."

Ava nodded but turned her head away, not accepting the wine. This unexpected response made Mila's expression falter. She hadn't expected someone outside the Hill family to act so brazenly.
