Chapter 72

Esme suddenly screamed the sound so loud that everyone cringed back. The birds that had been nesting in the trees that made up the forest scattered and flew up into the sky and away from the sound. The grip I had on her hand tightened. I was helpless. I couldn't help Esme whose back had now arched and nails were digging into whatever they could get a hold of. My wolf whimpered from both the sight and sound of Esme's arms breaking.

I watched on knowing that I would forever be haunted by the memory of Esme's first shift. Her right arms began to bend at an awkward angle without her being able to stop it. The sound of Esme's arm breaking echoed through the garden as many intakes of breath could be heard shortly after.
