Chapter 5 Provoke the Scheming Girl

That night, Bonnie didn't sleep very well. In her dreams, Ambrose was menacing, grabbing her by the neck and demanding to know why she had cheated on him. She frantically searched for her divorce certificate but couldn't find it before she woke up.

She sighed, still not fully awake when the phone rang.

"Hello there, Bonnie, don't go back to sleep! Come over quickly, we have auditions to pick!" Danielle's urgent voice came through the phone, sounding busy.

Bonnie chuckled, "Miss Danielle, aren't you being too obvious in your networking?"

It had been five or six years since Bonnie had worked, and in the public eye, she was already considered semi-retired. Yet she suddenly returned and was able to pick her own audition offers. Clearly, someone was pulling strings.

Danielle didn't care, "If they have the ability, they can find an agent to be their bestie. No one will say anything even if they work for Hollywood."

Rough language, but true words.

Bonnie tidied herself up and rushed to the company.

Everyone in the company was in the industry, so they all knew who Bonnie had married and what kind of life she had experienced after marriage. They were all very snobbish, whispering behind her back without saying hello to her face.

"Look at how she used to pester him for so long, and now she's still been dumped."

"Really, she wanted to be a rich housewife. If I were her, I wouldn't have the nerve to come back, slinking back to acting and treating our company as a backup plan."

"Shh, don't say that. She has connections, so what can you do about it?"

She had been hearing these kinds of comments for five years, so she was already numb to it. She greeted the receptionist with a smile, "Long time no see."

Her flamboyant appearance stunned everyone.

As she got to the 21st floor, nothing had changed, the decor was still familiar, but before she could bask in any sentimental memories, she already heard heated arguing.

"Have you ever seen anyone be so blatant? Do you think you are better than everyone just because you came back from abroad!?"

"I'm sorry, we are better. Why don't you go ask the business partner if they want Elaina or if they'll take her?"

The voice was very familiar to her, and she vaguely felt that something was wrong. Pushing open the door, she confirmed her suspicion.

Elaina greeted her warmly without feeling surprised, "Ms. Collins."

Despite the softness of her voice, there was a hint of provocation deep within.

Bonnie didn't give her a glance, and walked over to Danielle, asking, "What's going on?"

"I left this ad for you, but they came and snatched it away," Danielle said angrily. She had a long-standing feud with Faye. Now that Faye had returned from overseas, she was causing trouble again and wouldn't let up for a minute.

Bonnie understood the situation and lightly chuckled, "It's just an ad, forget about it."

Her disdainful demeanor made Faye a little unhappy and she spoke in a sarcastic tone, "Ms. Collins, your words could easily be misinterpreted. Elaina relies on her talent, and anyone else could do the job but you."

The employees who were working outside couldn't help but sneak a peek when they noticed the atmosphere was off.

It was like watching a thrilling drama where Ambrose's former lover was confronted by his wife.

Tensions rose, and their curiosity was piqued.

"Uh-huh?" Finally taking a good look at Elaina, Bonnie sneered, "In show business, you have to respect the order of seniority. According to that, you are a latecomer, and besides, even if you are relying on your talents, you... are no match for me."

Elaina's face turned pale.

Although Bonnie hadn't been so popular earlier, her acting skills had been verified by several directors. Everyone used to say that Bonnie had the looks and a real talent.

But Elaina was different. She became famous quickly because of her fresh and lovely looks, but her acting was so bad that she had to use eye drops as tears when filming with the leading actor. She was heavily criticized and had to go abroad to train in acting.

Now being confronted by a woman who was pointing out her weaknesses, she naturally felt embarrassed.

Faye was still angry, "What nonsense are you talking about!?"

"This isn't some rural village squabble, it's best to speak with strength," Bonnie sneered, taking a stack of scripts out of the pile of files and glancing at them before repeating them word for word.

Everyone around them gasped with widened eyes.

Bonnie was truly amazing. She hadn't acted in years, but she could still memorize the lines just by glancing at them.

Her gaze was clearly fixed on Elaina, a sly grin on her face, "Your turn."

"Memorizing lines is the most basic skill for an actress. Ms. Flores, you are surely capable of it, right?"
