Chapter 6 Fighting for Maggie

Maggie thought for a moment and decided to contact Lavern to investigate the situation.

Just as Maggie was about to make a phone call, a commotion suddenly erupted downstairs, heard like someone was having an argument.

...

"Maggie is surnamed Adams. She is my granddaughter and a member of the Adams family."

"Maggie is also my granddaughter and a part of the Hail family. She is my daughter's child, and she must come back with us!"

"As long as I'm still alive, I will never let you take Maggie away!"

"Well then, I don't care if I have to fight today. I must take Maggie with me!"

"Dad, please calm down. You shouldn't be so irritated."

"Yes, both of you are old. Please calm down."

Carson leaned on his cane and argued with an elderly man in a suit with gray hair.

"Mr. Hail, Mr. Hail, please calm down."

Braxton looked helplessly at the two old gentlemen, who were almost two hundred years old combined.

Braxton knew that as soon as news of Maggie's return spread, the Hail family would try to take her away as well.

However, Braxton didn't expect Mr. Hail would come here in such a short time.

Well, it seemed everyone cared about that girl very much.

"Dad, Mr. Adams."

A beautiful woman in a red dress said, "I think we should listen to Maggie. She can go with the person she wants."

As soon as she finished speaking, there was a voice came from the stairs.

Everyone turned to look at the stairs in unison.

Maggie stood at the corner of the stairs, looking down calmly with her big eyes.

"Maggie?"

Ann looked at the girl in front of her, and her eyes immediately turned red. She recognized Maggie right away.

Maggie looked exactly the same as Ann's sister, especially her eyes.

"Maggie!" Norris also rushed over there.

Norris almost tripped over as he walked too fast, and fortunately, a nearby bodyguard caught him.

Maggie looked at those strangers, blinked her eyes, and looked toward Carson.

Carson paused with his cane and said, "Maggie, this is your Grandfather Carson and Aunt Ann."

Grandfather and Aunt?

Maggie looked at the two people in front of her, bit her lower lip, lowered her head, and took out her phone to type.

"Maggie," Ann immediately said, "it's okay. I know sign language. You can communicate with me."

The Hail family had been searching for Maggie for years. They had almost found her at the same time as the Adams family, but unfortunately, they came later than the Adams family.

However, the Hail family knew everything about Maggie's life for the past ten years and knew that she couldn't speak.

Maggie blinked her eyes and gestured with sign language.

"Grandpa, Aunt Ann."

Ann's eyes turned red, and she felt an indescribable feeling surge in her heart.

Norris couldn't understand sign language and asked anxiously, "What did Maggie say?"

"Dad, Maggie called you grandpa," Ann said soothingly.

"Hey!" Norris' eyes suddenly became wet.

Maggie looked so much like her mother. Since Maggie's parents passed away five years ago, there wasn't a single second Norris didn't want to find Maggie back.

"Maggie, would you like to come back with us?"

Ann looked at Maggie and asked gently, "Don't worry, just tell us what you are thinking about. I will listen to you."

Maggie looked at her grandfather and aunt in front of her and felt a rare warmth. Maybe this was the power of blood ties.

Maggie lowered her eyes and shook her head gently.

"Thank you, Grandpa. Thank you, Aunt Ann, but I'll stay with the Adams family."

Carson was overjoyed to see this and breathed a sigh of relief.

Ann was disappointed, but she still said in a gentle voice, "Okay, Maggie. But if you have time, come visit us. If you suffer any injustice, remember to tell us. We will support you."

"What do you mean?"

Capri spoke up, "The Adams family would never bully her. If you want her, go ahead and take her away!"

"Capri." Braxton signaled Capri to shut up, and Carson also gave Capri a stern look.

Capri pouted in the grievance.

Ann let out a sneer.

"Mr. Adams, it's been a few years since we last met, and it seems like Capri has become even more arrogant."

After hearing this, Braxton's face darkened slightly. He gave Capri a warning look as she wanted to say something to rebut.

"It was all this stupid girl's fault!"

Capri gritted her teeth and thought indignantly.

After the commotion, Ann and Norris checked the time.

Ann said to Maggie, "Maggie, it's getting late. You should rest early, and if you need anything, just call me." She then handed over a brand-new phone and said, "It contains the contact information of me and the other members of the Hail family."

After pausing for a moment, Ann added, "And your brothers."

Maggie remained calm and nodded at Ann, gesturing with sign language, "Thank you, Aunt Ann. Thank you, Grandpa."

Ann and Norris felt a pang of bitterness in their hearts and said to Maggie, "Maggie, go upstairs and rest."

Maggie nodded and turned to go upstairs.

Once back in her room, Maggie opened the phone and found a contact list with about a dozen people, all of them relatives of the Hail family.

All of them were well-known in the current business and political circles of Austin.

When Maggie's mother married her father, the relationship between the Adams family and Hail family improved significantly, but after the incidents that occurred later, neither family cared about her parents anymore.

Maggie lowered her eyes and hid all her emotions.

Maggie was determined to find out the cause of her parent's death.
