Chapter 27

"I know that you didn't just do that," I seethed and with the back of my hand, I wiped my mouth.

"So that's it?" He completely ignored my previous statement. He didn't try to get back up, knowing that with all the anger coursing through my veins at the moment, I would easily push him back down. "You're not even going to give me a chance to fix this?"

"You thought a kiss would fix this?" I answered with another question.

"No, of course not, but it was worth a try." He shrugged, a smirk tugging on his lips. As quick as it came, it was gone and he grew serious. "So this is it? The friendship we've worked on for years is gone like that?" He snapped his fingers for effect. "Have I lost you forever?"

"Is everything alright?" I tensed when I felt Rowan place his hand on my shoulder. He eyed Evan --who was still on the ground-- and gave me a confused look. "What are you doing on the floor?"

I let out a long, weary sigh. "We're fine."
