Chapter 82

"You know," she starts. I can feel the brush gliding over my eyelid as she speaks. "I've been practicing how to do makeup since I was ten. I practiced on myself and sometimes when they weren't busy, our moms would let me practice on them." I can't see what her face looks like because both my eyes are closed, but I can hear the smile playing on her words as she remembers. "That was a rare instance, though. They were busy pretty much all of the time. I always wanted someone around my age to practice on, and now that you're here, I have that."

My heart warms for her, but at the same time, I can't imagine how lonely she felt all her childhood with no one her age to be around. She had Rowan, who she's told me is like an older brother to him, but I doubt he was ever interested in the things she liked. As he grew older, he spent all of his time looking for me.
